Just an open discussion why we don’t see ampfests anymore and my perspective that close enough really is good enough for most it seems?

Never been to an amp fest. Heard people on RT talk about past ones some members put together. What are they all about?

Couple people bring some badass cabs, a lot of people bring badass super rare or popular amps, everyone that wants to play gets a turn at turning knobs and cranking on amps through various cabs together one at a time. We all walk away with new world perspectives.

The coolest ampfesrs I used to see was the ones James Lugo used to do. They would.swap pickups and try all types of badass amps and cabs that people would bring. Was cool too seeing these guys playing that you only had a forum name for.

So for me, i would love modelers to get good enough. But I haven't seen it.

When we have amp fests, it is my goal to have my amp beat by another amp. I have played some great amps. The last one had a synergy amp. It was really cool. And it sounded pretty good. But when a/b with the actual amp, it is not even close.

If you dont play it in same room, though, no one would know. I have also heard bands use kempers and through front of house. It is really good

I flirted hard with an fm3, but at the end of the day, a guy like me that plays loud would sorely miss the feel and sound of a tube amp
