Hey all,

I impulse bought a 3 channel dual rectifier online at a good price. It has a chrome chassis and black diamond plate grill. The mesa logo on the front is larger than the smaller rev f logo. I haven’t had a chance to look at the serial number (as it is in the mail). I had never seen a chrome chassis 3 channel recto and was wondering if anyone might have any idea about the background of the amp or potential revision? Thanks all.

If it’s a 3 channel then I don’t believe there are any special revisions to them. If it were a 2 channel, black/chrome then I would ask for the serial # because you would have a G or possibly much earlier version

thank you! I appreciate that. I was really confused due to the cosmetics. I wonder how many of the 3 channel have this look.

I’ve seen a few for sale over the years; it’s a great look for sure. My two F triples had that same look.
If you’re lukewarm on the amp even after boosting, look into modding it. I think there’s a JT dude in Cali who mods 2 and 3 channel Rectos. The clips sound stellar.

Thanks for the tip. I may send this one to Hermansson. I have a JT modded triple rec and you’re 100% right. It sounds reallllly good.

It would just be a custom order 3-channel head. There are some minor differences depending on the year, but nothing to the degree of 2-channel revisions.

Saw this look once before on the three channels. It`s really nice.

Would not mod the amp. Those a la carte mods are always the hottest, newest sh... but as time goes on and the herd moves forward, they get somehow outdated.

With this amp, I would look to bring the bias up with hotter running tubes or a bias mod. That alone tightens up the bottom end and removes fizz. If you still don`t like it, you can still do the mods.

Another possible option I would consider is updating it to Multi Watt specs, although I have no idea, what those are.
