Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a reverb in order to beef up my sound when playing home, to give it a bit of width. So we're talking about a light and discrete reverb, not 100% mix cathedral stuff. It would be an almost always on reverb.
My setup is a Diezel Hagen with an ElCap in the serial loop. I play mostly hard rock and metal. The idea is that this reverb should handle high gain stuff, in the loop of the amp (the parallel one would be best), without messing with fast riffing. I did a try with my ElCap as a reverb and it was OK, a dedicated unit should be better.
I spent the week-end reading reviews and watching videos but I just couldn't decide myself :dunno they are usually ambient oriented.
So after my research :
Strymon Flint :
+ Simple reverb & tremolo
+ Some reviews seem to be from rockers
+ I like the look
+ Analog dry path for the reverb...
- ...but not for the tremolo
- The tremolo is no good in a parallel loop
- Several reviews talk about a change in tone
Strymon BlueSky :
+ Analog dry path
+ Lots of settings
+ Can be run parallel (100% wet)
+ Included favorite switch
- Maybe a bit overkill ?
Neunaber Stereo Wet :
+ Seems to be the reference
+ Easy to use
+ USB port = evolutive pedal
- Seems ambient oriented
- Can't be run in a parallel loop (maximum mix != 100% wet)
- Only runs at instrument level, might not suit my loop
TC Hall of Fame :
+ The cheapest
+ Lots of different reverbs
+ Analog dry path
+ Kill dry for parallel use
- The weakest, sound quality wise
- That red color blinds me
You'll say just try them... I would but except the TC they are very hard to find in Eastern Europe, and very expensive.
So after this list it seems that the BlueSky is the best solution, but maybe I'm missing something. Do some of you have a similar way to use the reverb ?
Thanks !
