Heya ppl,

I'm looking to upgrade my Bugera G5 with something with way more gain and voiced towards an american metal sound.

I can't decide between these two tube Randall heads:
1. Randall RD20H (RD45H is over my budget, but I'd consider if its worth over the 20 head ?...)

2. Randall RH50T - older model made 7-8 years ago found it in some online store oldstock unused - 4x 12AX7 +2x EL84 has spring reverb

I would have to drive hundreds of km in opposite direction to try them so I'll order online, both same price, I'm especially interested in the second one just want some input if maybe somebody around here has owned or played one, I just have this feeling, sprung from my defective brain, that it has a better distorted channel. Also I'm a bedroom player and will use these with a power attenuator and I would totally buy the RD5 but I need two channels.

Cheers!

I choose Katana!
sorry, but I really think it would serve you well here

If you really want a Randall, I would find a used rd50. I have a buddy in Fla that tried selling his cheap cheap but no one bit. Great amp, especially for the $. It has big tubes which I like a lot more than el84 types.

Out of the two I'd take the RD20 any day. I had a RD5 and RD100 and recently played the RD20 head that was used at Guitar Center. Very cool amp. I really like the tone of them.

Another vote for the newer model, esp because it's got Mike Fortin's design and very cool tone.

At first I was going for the older amp but due to insufficient info I'm probably gonna buy the newer.
There is however one thing about the older amp that intrigued me, it has a master volume, and "level' knobs on both channels with gain knob on od channel...was wondering what the level does.
