Help me decide on a cheap(er) practice amp

All, so I'm having trouble making a decision so thought I'd solicit input from more experienced members of the group. Me and the boys are gettin' the band back together lol, and we are rehearsing at my drummer's dedicated space. I'm looking to get a relatively inexpensive head or combo that I can just leave there and not worry too much about. I was initially thinking a lower cutoff but for posterity's sake let's say max price of $750. Current setlist includes Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, STP and Sabbath. Anything added in will likely be in similar genres.

Based on what's for sale here on R-T and used at my local GC, some options I've identified include:

1) DSL 40C (newer version)
2) JCM900
3) 5153 50w
4)Mk III
5)Katana

If you had either these 5 amps to choose from or could find something else at that price point what would you recommend?

I have owned all the others (Except the 5153 50 watter/only had the stealth head)
And for the best dollar for dollar its the Katana. :thumbsup:
I plug it into one 4x12 and it just smashes. Easily can bury my drummer if I want. :lol: :LOL:

And zero flub. sounds great! And did I mention CHEEEEEEEEAP?? :D
 
agreed, grab a used CAB off Craigslist and throw the Kat on top.
I love the EVH stuff, but bang for buck cannot be beat here, especially if you are leaving it somewhere else
 
Appreciate the recs guys. That's what I was leaning towards. Have a Marshall 2x12 with V30s sitting there now so would probably plug it into that.
 
Oh shit your golden. I have a mxr eq plugged into the loop of mine. Just 'electrifies ' the amp.
If that makes sense. Basically you could fart into the pickup of your guitar and hear it defined thru the amp. :lol: :LOL:

Still waiting on my Y splitter box so I can run the Katana thru a full stack.
