Guitar shopping time!!!
Getting as picky as possible, generally in the mood for an electric with these specs:

$500-ish or under
Maple fretboard
at least 22 frets
SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT (no more than 5lbs)

Love to hear what you guys think!!! thanks in advance!

I'd say MIM Fender Strat. You can go with either HSS or SSS- depending on your needs. Some of the Ibanezs may meed your needs as well.

I bought an American Stratocaster and Telecaster off Craigslist for $550 each.
The economy was real tough so there were great deals. I still see people selling low.
Keep an eye out.

No offense but good luck. If you were not set on a maple board. Danelectro might work for you.

i'm definitely set on the specs the weight is the killer issue here.

bad back, and i practice standing up!

My 2nd or 3rd guitar I've ever owned was a MIM strat, had great times with it, modded etc. and I definitely it remember a bit over 7lbs.

I reckon the kramers would be around the same weight as well..

Never seen a Strat anywhere close to 5 lbs.

It doesn't have a maple fretboard, but if you want a well made, good sounding guitar in the 5 lb range, look for a used PRS Mira X or Starla X. The Mira X was in the 5 lb range, the Starla slightly more.

google back brace and buy one and land a 10-12 pound LP LOL

eBay -- help yourself and search for ones in your price range ;) You are a bit too vague in what you want other than weight. Tele's and Strats in ash will be pretty lightweight for you. That also is an option...buy an ash body, a used strat or tele neck and piece one together. I have a couple of strats that are ash that are really light bodies but have good tone.

You should be able to get you a decent player for your price range.

thanks everyone so far for the suggestions i'll be looking into the thinline teles, and prs's!

yes my specs are a bit vague but i figured the weight requirement would've narrowed it down quite a bit!
