I have an old Strat, alder body and maple neck. Love it but there is a Duncan JB in the bridge and a Duncan 59 in the neck. I also have another with those pickups so I would like to make a change. I love the sound of the JB and the 59 so I would like to stay in somewhere those type of sound and response. I play a Mesa Rectoverb 50 if it can help. I heard a lot of goods about Motor city and BKP but don't know any of there pickups exception of the Rebel Yell that I heard 1 bad clip in youtube.

What would you recommand me?

Thanks

Long time Jb user here; i put a bkp holy diver in my les paul, replacing a jb and its tits! Its like a jb, but tight, and doesnt have the high spike. Really convinced me the bkp's arent all hype.
Still have to get one for my other les paul. Ive had a mcp detroiter in one of my SG's and it was an awesome pickup as well, so im thinking about going with a garuda, which i e heard is also an improved, JB-ish pickupz

The new MCP that is a jb killer is the Garuda, call wade.

love JB's here and I'll second the Holy Diver. I have one in a charvel TMZ natural (mahog although yours is alder) and it sounds great.

I have a set of Garuda's in my SL2H and they are awesome. I really don't think you could go wrong with either the Holy Diver or the Garuda. Both are great pickups and in the same general ballpark in sound.

BK Rebel Yell's. I've got a set in my LP and they rule...

I have a covered detroiter in a suhr classic, alder body. Totally woke the guitar up!

Sorry to dig this up, but is the Garuda the MCP "equivalent" to the JB in terms of output and tone?

Motor city..black belt 2's in my LP....mmmmmmmmmmmm
& Wade is a good dude...

Wade got back to me and I thought I would update this in case anyone in the future went to research it.

Wade "...the Garuda are like a older JB and outperform the newer models simply on organic character and quality of gain." So, there you have it.

Looks like OP doesn't really care what our opinions are... lol. It's been three months and he hasn't posted back.

But just to throw another worthless opinion out there, I second the BKP Holy Diver. It's a great pickup. Also the Nailbomb.

I've had two sets of BKP Nailbombs (both used CTS 500k ohm pots, .022uf caps), nickel covered and zebra, in mahogany/maple Les Pauls. They are very harmonic, also. They are very versatile and I think I could play just about any genre with them, but I tend to focus on the hard bluesy rock like AC/DC, Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Nugent, etc., but sometimes venture into 80s hair metal. There are pro and amateur vids on Youtube.
It'd be cool to rent a set of pickups and return them in month.
