this shit is driving me crazy.. there were these foam toys back in the 80s/early 90s that were uncrushable, maybe the size of a coffee cup, i remember a commercial where they ran one over with a car and it popped back up, me and my friends all had them and i may still have one in my closet buried somewhere, mine was this dude that had sunglasses i think. anyone remember what they were called?? ive been looking for an hour and a half and its driving me nuts. someones gotta know lol
 
I know that can't be what you are talking about at all but for whatever reason, Stretch Armstrong and Vac Man came to mind.

Vac man has a little vacuum you would pull the air out with and it would be all 'muscled up'.

Anyone remember those science sets in the early 90's your parents bought you....it came with the white powder and baking soda? You'd use the burner from the toy kit to cook it all down into rocks? My parents used to trade this funny/crazy neighbor we had the rocks and give me money for games. They need to bring back science based toys like that.
