Hi everyone !

For 2 weeks, I've had encountered a pb with my lovely Einstein 50W head.
I hope someone could help me solve this !

The clean mode of the channel 1 is making some noise... not a buzz, hiss or hum, but something like the wind blowing in my speakers.
No pb with the mode 2 and 3 that remain very quiet as they always used to be (and as the clean mode used to be too !).
No pb with the Channel 2 too.

I thought of a faulty preamp tube, so I tried to replace V1 but nothing changes.
I think that if V1 was defective, all 3 modes were affected and not only the clean mode...

I noticed another thing that is weird and could help find the problem : the "volume" knob of my Channel 1 makes some noise too (crackles and blows when turning it), as if the pot was defective... but it only makes some noise in Clean mode (it's perfectly clean on Texas and Mega modes !).

What do you think of that Doctors ???

My head is the 50W model and has the following serial : 002/283.
It has always been very quiet.
I love the sounds of the wind blowing and the waves on the sand... but don't want it in my amp !!!

Thanks for your help !

Steve,
get a new set of tubes and some cleaner for the volume pot.
Where are you located ?

Thanks for your reply Peter !

I'm in France near Lyon.
I bought this amp a year ago...

I've already tried different preamp tubes (used but reliable). Maybe I should order a whole set of new preamp tubes.

I will try to put some "cleaner" for the volume pot, as you advice... but I don't think this will solve the pb : the pot might not be defective or dirty because it makes noise only on "Clean mode" (no pb on "Texas" and "Mega" modes !).

Then you have DC voltage on the volume pot which comes from
a bad preamp tube.

OK, it cannot be clearer !
Thanks a lot for your answer Peter, I will order a set of new preamp tubes as soon as possible and post here to tell the result...

Really awesome to have online the support of the person who designed your amp !
Thanks again for your prompt and precise reply.

--Off topic--
I sent you a message (on Diezel website) some months ago, with a link to the EP of my band REDROCKS, all recorded with Diezel amps (my Einstein head and a Schmidt head for the singer)... did you have it ??
The tracks are available here : http://www.redrocks.fr
It would be great to have a return from you on our work...

OK, I'm back !

I checked all my preamp tubes and V4 was defective !
I replaced it with a new one : my amp is no longer blowing, nor my "volume" pot... thanks a lot Peter !

I've ordered a whole set of preamp tubes, all will be replaced soon !

Hope this post will help other owners of Diezel amps.
See you
