I just found a gently used Carl Martin Chorus XII... LOVE it... hands down my favorite chorus ever.
I was hoping some XII owners might be able to help me out... I seem to be running into some weird, seemingly, phase issues when running in stereo...
I'm running out of an effect loop of ISP Theta Combo amp into the Carl Martin. I'm sending one output of the XII to the return of the amp, and the other output to another powered cabinet (and ISP Vector 2x12 - I'm using my ISP Impression to control the volume to the Vector, as the Impression has levels for the direct/dry and effected signals).
I'm doing this already with other chorus, delay, and reverb pedals with no issues. At all. (the only other issue I had was trying to run a compressor in the loop... had to put it out in front of the amp).
However, when the Chorus XII is engaged, it sounds lush and beautiful just like I remember... LOVE IT... especially in stereo. However, when bypassed, it kills one of the original dry signals, or at least drops in such volume as to not be there.... I keep the effect level on the amp all the way up, and the when the pedal is bypassed, the dry signal totally (or almost completely) disappears. It's the weirdest thing I've ever heard. No other pedal has done this.
So, trouble shooting, I ran it mono into the front of the amp and both individual channels work just fine... I'm going to run into the front end of two amps a little later to see what's up, but is this an issue that you've ever seen before? It's very strange... especially since my other stereo delays or chorus don't do this.
Any and all information is greatly appreciated! And the original owner said that running stereo was never an issue, so he never experienced problems. I've written to the company and on their FB page hoping for some response or if there's some weird thing in the design - which will make me cry if I can't run it with this set up...
