hey fellas this is my first post i hope someone can help me.I have a mesa triple rec and i have a loud buzzing on channes 2 an 3. i replaced the pre amp tubes an this helped for a little while. also my solo dont work i can turn it up all the way and hit the solo button and the volume dont change. and it seems to me every time i turn the stand by off an then turn it back on the tone changes also it seems like the longer the amp is on the tone an volume starts to drop slightly. and i was wondering is it common for the tubes to flash bright blue when being played (this is my first tube amp) my buddies got the same amp his tubes glow blue too but not as bright as mine and his is perfectly quite on all channels.an i also get a lot of feedback an when i plug my guitar into my buddies tiple rec i dont get that feedback.anyway i hope its just bad tubes so if anyone can help let me know what i can do to diagnose the problem and offer me advice on new tubes the best for playing metal thanks guys i love this site been reading for months and now im posting

That's the trademark Mesa distortion sound. :D

if your Solo isn't working, makes me think you don't have something set right on the back of the amp?

one knob needs to be set to FTSW, and then the loop needs to be set somewhere around the Normal range.

if you're getting buzz on ch2 & ch3, but not on ch1, then hopefully it's a bad tube in V2 or V3?

from your description, it kindda sounds like your power tubes are tired as hell?

for power tubes i run SED 6L6 or EL-34 that i get from Doug's Tubes, then i've got an EH in V1, Tung-sol in V2, JJ in V3, Tung-sol V4, and EH V5. don't hurt to put in all new tubes, sometimes seems like tubes can act crazy and can't ever figure out which tube it is. http://www.dougstubes.com

it sounds like you at least have something wrong with your power tubes. my solo switch boost too much volume at way less than half of the knob. and by your description, it sounds like your power tubes are arcing, and a brilliant blue or flashing blue is bad. good thing about boogies is just change with the proper tubes, no bias. i would at least try to blow out the tube sockets, and re-seat power tubes though. i've had boogies come back from the shop, and a power tube wasn't seated properly, and it was all kinds of hell.

Is the master(output/the one next to the solo knob) working, if it's not working then you have to engage the effects loop in order to use the solo. Look at the back next to the return and send loop knobs, there's a knob that has loop on,ch1,ch2,ch3,ftsw,bypass written around it, if it's fully clockwise move it counter-clockwise one notch, the solo should work. As far as the buzzing you need new tubes, at least pre's. Get low noise for v-1 at least (preamp tube closest to input jack) and maybe for v-2 and v-3(those are your preamp stages, the rest is for the loop and phase inverter) if your totally against using a noise gate and or use ALOT of gain other wise v-1 is okay.

When I used a recto my favorite tubes were Groove Tubes Chinese 6L6CHP's (the black plates) and for pre's tung-sol in v-1, chinese in the rest. I however had a Mercury Magnetics output transformer and choke in my triple though, and that's when I had that combo, so may or not be good stock, I don't see why not though the new OT and choke pretty much only cleared it up as best I could tell, maybe a hint more harmonic content.
