Hello all, new guy here. :) I just picked up an 80's Japanese Strat off the bay, problem is, I'm not sure what model it is. Any Fender experts out there that can help a brutha out? I took the neck off and it's stamped ST-362 F, the body cavity is stamped ST-362 FH, gotoh tuners, schaller floyd trem, neck plate is square with no markings, no skunk stripe on the back of the neck. Guy said he thinks its stock except for the dimarzio evolution in the bridge. Also, I'm not sure whether the serial starts with a C or a G. Thanx in advance. :)

the serial number C would be 85-86 if it is G 87-88
as far as model ? hotrodded strat :dunno:

IMHO it looks like an improperly printed G, a C shape would not have such a distinct lower letter extension.

model wise ST-362 means strat, 362 is probably the model of the time it was made.

FH and F dictate floyd rose, H could mean anything.

any reason why you want the neck and bodies to match? it does not add much value to the guitar if anything at all.

That was called a "Floyd Rose Fat Strat" if I am not mistaken. Produced from the mid '80's to the early '90's, with the later ones having fotoflame tops.

I'm not sure I follow you. I don't WANT them to match, I just posted the markings that are on the neck and body in the hopes that someone might know what model this is.

if thats the case then why not punch the numbers into google? adding value was the only other thing i could think of as to posting it here.

using google, the 62 in 362 means its a '62 reissue, but it has been common that they marked them as 57 reissues as well - there never was a real documentation records system for serial numbers to be compared/decoded with the model numbers - japan was guilty of that for years.

if you have 8 holes on the front its a 57 with the 362 stamp. of course yours does not - so its a 62 reissue with the proper serial number code. ST means strat like i mentioned before :)

hope this helps.

happy NGD and welcome aboard

Thanx bro :) I figured the "st 62" stands for strat '62, and I think the f on the neck might stand for floyd, and the f h on the body might stand for floyd humbucker, I just wish I knew what model it is, and, I'd like to be real sure that it's not a squier, cause it wasnt advertised as such.
