The story behind this is that I was going to enter that Talenthouse/Experience Hendrix competition, so I recorded the track and made the video. Upon filling out the submission form and reading through the contract, I decided not to follow through with the entry. Mainly because of a specific clause… So that's that. We've decided to use the tracks I recorded and add vocals and drums, and eventually release it as a band recording. In the meantime, I figured I'd share the video I did for the competition, since I already put the time in to making it.

Very nice all around!
Playing, tones, arrangement.
Pleasing to listen to.
Great job!

Sounded great. I've been reading that contest has a strange rule or two

GF90 is one of the best amps Bogner makes, often overlooked but has 2 killer channels

Thanks.

Here is the clause I am referring to. I refer to it as an "American Idol" clause. Not that it's particularly shady or anything. I just think that the wording of it can be open to interpretation and is a little far-reaching. Particularly the phrase "in any and all media now known or hereinafter devised, throughout the universe and in perpetuity" is what bugs me. Even if it refers to something very specific, I'm just not willing to legally bind myself to something worded like that. Especially not for $2500 and some free gear. I honestly get enough free shit already. I was more interested in the potential of jamming on stage with the other musicians involved.

Oh well, no big deal… we're going to use the track for the new band (with live drums and vocals added). Another clause in the agreement granted the contest sponsors full rights to the submitted work, which may have potentially gotten in the way of that. So it's cool. It was fun recording the song. It's something my singer and I wouldn't have ever thought to do otherwise.

Thank you

Most people were confused by the requirement that the submission contain "all-original work" yet the whole competition was based on submitting cover songs. Another thing that could be open to interpretation. Basically they didn't want you trying to pass someone else's work off as your own.

The idea of the contest was to do a "guitar cover" of a Hendrix song in your own style. I'm sure most people were just planning on playing along to the album tracks in their bedroom and submitting that. Like most "guitar covers" on youtube.

Excellent Playing Tones etc.

When you said Hendrix and Goldfinger I thought this should be good ,cuz from what Ive heard from the

Goldfinger , one of the best Amps to cover a LOT of Hendrix Tones.

And it was, nice Job, now get that delay and do Redhouse one of the bluest Blues.....lol

I enjoyed that very much. Nice job.

Thanks guys. I agree, the Goldfinger is an under-appreciated amp. I've been using A LOT lately on the new recordings. That said, I'm still super excited about the Helios. Played through one at Bogner a few weeks ago and it seems like the perfect amp to compliment the GF. Also used a Bogner Metropolis on some tracks that has me considering one.
