Herbert and Midi (How does it work)

Hi guys,

I am a midi noob, I read some of the earlier topics on midi questions but wanted to make sure on how exactly it works. At my current setup I am using a PodHD with 4 cable connection method. Pod is midi capable. One thing is though, that the Herbert's midi in has a 7 pin connection and phantom power. Pod is 5 pin. So that is a bit confusing for me. Do I just connect the Herbert midi thru to pod midi in? Or do I need another midi device in between? All I want to achieve is to change presets on Pod while changing the channels or some functions on Herbert with a single foot button. So the basic midi stuff. A noob tutorial would be cool :D
