I never realized how awesome ch 2 is of my Herbert. Tonight I cranked the gain and the mids, turn the mid cut up to around 9 oclock and BAM! Instant tight metal tonz. I can't believe I never tried that before. Probably because CH3 is so kick ass.

I feel kinda dumb for not noticing this before  Oh well. This amp is really versatile.

The Herbert is a bag full of tricks. \m/\m/

I found that channel 2 (+) with midcut is great for standard tuned metal and channel 3 with midcut is great for metal that is tuned more than 1 step down.

Right on! I can't believe I never tried it before. I only used ch2 as a classic rock type channel (which I rarely use)

Well, im bussy with my first demo and it will be up pretty soon. I did everything with the Herbert. I went with a fusion type backing and beautifull leads using channel 2+ of the Herbert.

Maybe iff i try a vh4 now ill like it. A vh4 and herbert would be nice to have.

But up till now, channel 2 overall fits my need. When i need more sustaine, compression, attack i switch to channel 3. There have been times that i didn't even touch channel 2 and 3. The clean on this amp keeps me going every time i switch to that channel ;)

Dude...thats 100% of my main-rythm (death)metal tone. I end up only switching to Channel 3 when i do tapping and stuff, and need extra sustain.

Ch2+ with mid cut is where i spend the most time, i like both mid cut knobs at noon and the gain around 2:00.

Guys

try:
intensity: 9 o'clock
level: 12 o'clock

channel 2:
gain as preffered(try a guitar with passifs) just before compression kicks in, should be around 12 o'clock
treble 10
bass 10
volume between 12 and 2, using more channel volume helps open up the tone
middle 3 o'clock

pressence and deep around 12

This gives me a wicked lead channel on 2+ with mid cut engaged*
for rythem i also lower the intensity, try it and enjoy*
add slight delay just a bit for filling some space
iff preferred slight reverb, depending on youre room

sweetness!!

Dont do that Pauly, ive got other things to buy @ the moment, i cant use any gas right now, thats just mean :gethim:

BTW: is it a big plus running them together? or do you use them for different things? i know they both have the diezel trademark sound but the difference is really noticable.

SORRY, but i had too. Mostly that was geared towards Mojo..LOL

I love running them together. They really balance each other out. The VH4 has its own thing & the Herbert has its. Together the "compensate" for what each lacks..if that makes sense. Its really awsome playing the 2 of them together.

Youre lucky having both and just keep on

I'm having a blast recording with the Herbert, its just that i dont have the time. I do a 15 min. session everyday. Maybe ill quit my job :scared: but the 15 minute sessions give me a fresh perspective every time  I would love to track with the VH4, but who knows what the future holds ;)

I had the oppurtunity to play a VH4 a couple days ago (courtesy of Sigma Xiria) I liked it a lot, great amp but I think the Herbert is still more my speed. Maybe someday I can add a VH4 to the stable.

Yeah, I usually like the mid cut around noon but when I play with the band I turn it down to around 9 oclock.
