The NATAS is no longer available... but the Randall Satan is going to cost less than half of a Herbert... can't really comment on tonal vs though, never played either myself.

Aw, PISS! I didn't know that. Man, that's two down for me, I guess

My heart.. it hurts :aww:

Holy sweet! When did that happen??

Just came across a quote from Ola on another forum of around $1,600 USD. That's just flat-out amazeballs!

I have the opportunity to buy a Natas, Im still trying to convince myself to spend over 4 thousand dollars for a 2 channel amp. That one amp cost as much as my Bogner uber , mesa recto and the ENGL fireball all combined.

I owned the MK1 Herbert for 4 years and owned a MkII Herbert. Also got to play the Natas - I think it was still a proto-type (the one in killertone's videos). If you want tight, I'd look to the Natas or whatever the amp will be called when Randall puts it out.

^^Speaking of which, anybody know if there was much deviation in the Randall Satan from the NATAS? With the prestige of it's predecessor, that's a price a guy just can't ignore (if I understood that correctly). Just curious if anything went out the window in the process. Not that I'd recognize it even if I got my curious fingers on one. just wondering.

That said, I can't friggn wait!!

Betcha circuit wise, there isn't much difference between the two amps... With some time and research, I wouldn't be surprised to see people buying the Randall product and eventually returning it back to the way Fortin was pumping it out. Just saying, where there's a will....

Biggest thing is the trannies... Is Randall going to be able to get the same trannies that Fortin was putting in there? I asked that question a few times and nobody had an answer...

The silence tells it all...

If they were using the exact same iron it would be touted all over the forums as a major selling point (imo).

Dude I'll drop the hammer on that deal right now! Hook me up!
Its not built yet, it was ordered from Fortin by a friend right before the design was sold to Randall.

There is no way the price can go from 3900 down to 1600 and have everything be the same quality. So, the question remains what corners are Randall going to cut to reduce the price so drastically.

Well for one thing they will be made in a factory rather than by hand by one guy.

I owned a Herbert and had a Natas for a while. I made videos for both. For tight low end chugging Natas wins by far. No comparison in the tightness area. Herbert has more low end. I personally wanted to like the Herbert and I really tried. I had it for about 9 months or so and kept going to it to try and get it to do what I wanted. My Evil Pumpkin beat it on just about every level for tight, accurate, palm muted picking or chording.

I imagine this. Most of the cost of the natas was the handbuilt/labor aspect. You wont have that same factor with Randall.

the randall satan is supposed to be different than the natas. it started as the same but was tweaked for ola's tastes. im sure its going go be a great amp... but randall own the original natas design now. dont know if maybe they are going to make the original natas as well as the satan though, but they do have the meathead designs too... and honestly im more stoked about seeing a randall meathead than the satan. i got a feeling 2013 is going to be the year of randall for me. mike and ola both post here regularly and have talked much about these amps, just do a quick search.

heres ola's meathead video btw. i like it more than some of the natas/satan clips. doesnt sound as "in your face" and present, more suitable for a wide variety of rock and metal where the satan seemslike over the top modern and progressive sounding. but hell im gonna own both of them if the price is good on the meathead. you gotta navigate a whole mess of features and channels with the meathead though, haha.

Randall is doing a Natas but it will be called a different name. All in the works, lots of models coming down the pike. 2013 will be a good release effort for sure:-)
