I reckon I did the same thing to fuckers that played in the 70s.
 
Nah, my recording technique is too far out of left field

But if it was recorded on a four track, they would DEFINITELY think it was from the 80s
 
I wrote something the other day and sent it to a friend and he sent me a clip of Crowbar from 89, I ripped that riff completely…
 
i usually get compared to bands ive never listened to before which is usually interesting lol.
 
Yep, I get the “traditional power metal” reaction from friends.

One time I wrote a song based on a riff that turned out to be straight out of a Lenny Kravitz song. Ugh, so I trashed it...

A friend once compared my voice to "the guy from Dinosaur Jr". So I bought a Dinosaur Jr album to check it out and became a fan...
