The board is a 16x40 custom Blackbird pedalboard covered in purple, Marshal-style tolex. The case is covered in what they call Comet tolex. Like on the Bogner XTC.

Oh and in b4, "Y u no put cables and power supplies underneath the board????"

Yeah it would look much neater but IMO, it makes troubleshooting when problems occur a real bitch.

I love it too. I love how you can choose between the 2 inductors.

Wanna play AIC? Hit the red inductor

Want more quack for the 70's porno stuff? Hit the yellow inductor

What amp is this going into? All pedal drive or some dirt from the amp? I saw the BB into rockey fuel and thought you might just be stacking for the dirt..

Do you have the board mounted on/off switch (That one isn't a joke, Steve only buys fans with buttons he can put on the board he can turn on and off with his feet)

I'm using a JCM2000 DSL100.

I've got it set on the Lead 2 channel with VH1 kinda gain levels. Not terribly gainy at all.

I use the Rocket Fuel for heavier stuff like Whitesnake and the BB is set for just a little gain to push the front for a bit more sustain. I don't stack them.

I don't gig with the fan

I just use it in my room cos there's no a/c

Hey NaturalBornBoy, nice looking board man!

Can you tell me your opinion on the Rocket Fuel pedal? I've been looking at that one along with the Suhr Koko Boost. I haven't been able to demo either because up here in the great white north no one carries them.

Are they similar? I've seen Doug Aldrich talk about the Rocket Fuel as more of a clean boost that doesn't alter the tone of your amp and people say the same about the Koko Boost. Love to hear your thoughts on this.
Thanks man

First off, the clean boost side of the RF is very transparent. It just gives you more volume. The overdrive side of the RF, however, is not as transparent as you'd think. IME, it's a perfect boost for Marshall and Marshall type amps cos' it adds low-mids that most Marshall type amps don't emphasise much off. So with the od on, your tone sounds fuller and more even along the frequency spectrum. This also means that it won't work well for certain types of amps that are already low-mid heavy.

I have no experience with the Koko Boost so I can't comment on how similar or otherwise the 2 pedals are.

I run my power on the top of my board as well. I've had to mess with it before and if it was underneath I wouldn't have been very happy.
My board is all about live use. Things don't line up or look pretty, but everything is in the exact place I need them to be for gigging. And that typically means stage lighting so It has to work in those conditions.

I see pretty boards with everything tucked underneath and all the pedals are jammed together and I immediately have to think these guys aren't gigging. Nothing wrong with that, but most of the boards I see would never work for me. :)

Yours looks like a live gigging board.

I don't have to change much around when gigging, but I see nothing wrong pulling cables underneath... Granted mine's an Ikea board with planks so if I had to change stuff it isn't a problem and the power supply is easily accessible through a bigger slat against the front, but having clean boards isn't a bad thing or doesn't mean they don't gig

Some people do the Jake E Lee thing and just tape em to the stage and some peeps do the... I'm blanking on someone with a super clean board right now, but some people prefer that lol

I'm not busting on clean boards at all. More to the point of guys that have a ton of pedals pushed together side by side and above and below each other to the point that there is no possible way you could push a button on a dark stage while playing and singing without hitting multiple knobs on other pedals.
This guys board has a good amount of space for a live performing guitarist.

It is a gigging board indeed

Before I became a stay-at-home dad about a year or so ago, I played music full time in 2 cover bands. My gear has to work first and foremost before the looks become a concern.

Like you, I LOVE the look of pro built boards with the super tight and neat wiring and everything that isn't an effect, tucked nicely out of sight. I respect the amount of skill and patience it must take to achieve that level of neatness. But for me, I can't have that. It just wouldn't work. Like I mentioned before, troubleshooting a problem, and problems will and do occur, becomes a real PITA when everything is neatly tucked away underneath.

I'm a nobody in a cover band. I neither have a tech to do shit for me nor do I have a backup board to lug around

Also, I have pretty wide, size 13 feet so them pedals need to have some space between them :D
