Hey you, with the overpriced items in the classifieds.

Of course Guitar Center is going to be cheaper. They can afford to be, after some idiot teenager desperate for drug money came in with his daddy's $2000 les paul and was willing to take $100 to get rid of it.

Holy shit....$2500 for a replica neck? I wouldn't pay $2500 for a real 69 Strat.

  I know....I read that listing like 5 times, thinking I wasn't seeing it right.....at least he's letting the pictures "do the rest of the talking".....the words in the ad however, are another matter.

I'm a full-blown guitar addict, and as such, I am regularly going through literally tons or guitars via buying and trading. Well, it's not nearly as bad as it used to be, but I'm still going. Anyway, I have been told by some of the guys that price things higher than normal that they are "creating market value." Same guys condemn others for listing things at high prices

The worst for me is when somebody very obviously bought a guitar from the forum or ebay recently, and then lists it for sale for a higher price. Like... Anybody with 30 seconds to spare can see that you are charging more than you recently paid, what are you doing? Make the effort to not look like a jerk, at least.

...but depending on the store and the saleman you might not be refunded the money it cost to ship to the GC/home unless you raise some hell.

Because they are selling used items and if they neglect to say it does not work and you neglect to ask, technically you are at fault. Just because they are selling something used does not mean it has to be working.

"oh you bought a string pack? But you never asked if the guitar strings were included. Sorry....your fault.
Can I sell you something else?"

-if ya can't afford it don't buy it-

- if you can get it cheaper somewhere else, do it-

-this thread reminds me of the clowns on CL who make an ad just to call out some one else's "priced to high ads"

-yeah, like me right now, right!! .....no, just putting to words what the minions are thinking-

One member here actually wanted an amp shipped before he could pay for it!!
"Can't get money from Paypal for 3-4 days, Please ship today"
Then cancelled the deal when it couldn't be done that way!!!

Hehehehehehee!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable!

I love it when you make a reasonable offer, they decline and then it sits for months while they keep bumping it and they eventually lower the price below your offer but it still won't sell.

Took me six mos. to sell a minty ivory EVH 5153 100w for $1100. That's a fair price for that head. Finally sold it to a kid on the local CL. Why did it sit here and on TGP for so long? I don't really care. I got paid $1100 in cash, paid no fees and didn't have to ship. I can wait it out for that kind of sale.

The guitar listed in my signature is priced well below what they're going for on eBay and Reverb, but it's a pretty obscure brand and I had never even heard of it before I took it on a trade. I can wait it out. Why does anyone care if something sits for a long time? How does it affect you? Classifieds here getting too cluttered?

It's because they paid too much and think that because it's two months old it's new.

Pre-owned is not new, no matter how old it is. If you're one day past the return policy, it's not new. If I buy it from you and don't get a warranty, it's not new. If you really don't care if it sells, leave it at that price and watch it sit.

You're not fooling anyone, we know you told your wife you'd sell it. That's what the giant price tag is for, isn't it? "Sorry honey, people just aren't buying right now. Nothing I can do but keep bumping it." :D

Here in Birmingham we have a lot of Epiphones that are priced as Gibsons. Now, they price them as cheaper Gibsons but Gibsons nonetheless. There is no reason a 6 or 7 year old Epi LP Standard should be $600.00 even with an HSC. I could buy a nice Gibson LP Studio for what they are asking. I agree, they need to be a lot more reasonable. There is a guy that has put an Eerie Descent Swirl V type in my area for the same price for the last 4 years. And it just sits. I wonder if he really thinks after all this time that it will sell for anything close to what he is asking.

Its the sellers business to price items the way they want to. Its up to the buyer to pay that amount or pass.

Simple stuff really. Its not selling? Lower the price or wait it out..or keep it.

Its too much?? Too bad...pay or look elsewhere.

No rocket science here.

Does it include a free "setup"?

I guess I just don't find gear all that precious anymore. Couldn't care what people price their stuff at. If it's not a deal that works for me I'll pass without giving it much thought. There's so many cool amps and guitars out there something else that's cool always comes along. I buy things assuming I won't be able to sell it or if I want to chance something I''ll only get it from somewhere I can return it. Damn I love financing the shit out of used gear...

I take a look at what you got, then I go over to the used section at guitarcenter.com and see it for hundreds and hundreds of dollars less, with a 30 day no questions asked RETURN policy.

time to price your sales accordingly. I don't need to pay YOU extra money because your selling your precious.

Do some research, see what sites like that and completed listings on ebay have those items going out the door for.

there is NO reason to buy it from you for so much more money.

If you keep bumping it and it sits there for ages its because your pricing sucks.

If your gonna post something in the classifieds, price it to move buddy.

end rant. :)
have a nice day.

:D

...see sig.
