Heyboer vs. Mercury Magnetics vs. others

Soon I'm going to upgrade my Krank's tranny from a Schumacher to something better. Might also replace the choke ... not sure if I want to though.


So at Weber, the Heyboer HYOT100 is $90.00 ... and the Mercury MMO-100M $229.50


... so is the MM really worth $140 more?


I've read some differences about them from another thread that had some info from Metro ...but still at a loss. I've also talked to another member here about his Krank and upgrade, but I'd like to here from more.


Anyone have any experiences from both ... or another like Deyoung (can't find much about them)

Not a big fan of MM trannies. They feel pretty stiff to me. Not sure if it's the models I've tried or what...
I'm thinking I like Dangnals the best.

The Mercs are very unforgiving because they are super articulate and let the tone of the amp shine through with no distortion from the trannies. My father built a Metro 100 watt Plexi with Mercs and that amp is tighter than all hell. Very badass sounding head though. I had the Heyboers in a Splawn Pro Stock that I used to own and they were very comparable to the Mercs. If I was going to do a transformer upgrade on my 5150 I would just go with the Heyboers because of the huge difference in price. He is looking to sell the Plexi and will be doing some sound clips soon so I'll post them up when they're done so you can see what I mean.

seems like the TITAN AMP guy did clips with the deferent trannies in his builds? might be worth searching for.
