hey man,
i mentioned a while back that i was entertaining the idea of having you work some magic into my tol 100. I have to pick up my tyler strat later this week so maybe while i'm down i can bring the amp and we can chat-
specifically, i have 3 desires, in order of priority:
1) making channel 3 capable of becoming the brown VH machine. as is, it is a great smooth marshall tone, but i find it hard to achieve the right amount of zing up top to make it more clear in the mix, without introducing harshness.
2) modding the master presence circuit so that it's function globally is sweeter and fatter like mojave/VHT/mesa presence.
currently, when you turn up eggie's master presence it gets more metallic, which actually sounds OK mic'ed, and may have been designed for cutting in a mix live, but in the room it's too transistory and skinny to my ears.
3) working with channel 2 so it more closely resembles a pushed jtm45 meets bassman. bubbly and bursting at the seams with tube goodness and spank. as it is, you really have to crank the power section to get anything out of that channel, and at best it is a very dry, low gain brassy/middy marshall twang with little sustain and mucho tightness. add a compressor and tube screamer to it and it's actually a pretty interesting dumbly SRV/fusion tone..so i can get sorta close to what i want that way, but maybe you have better ideas?
do you think these things are doable in the eggie?
