Hi guys, quick intro.. been lurking here for a while gassing for a mod 50. This led me to pulling the trigger on a used mod 50 in the US. Well it turned up today! Now gotta chuck in the tubes and rebias etc. It come with a Sl2 and a VX module. Ill be back to pick ya brains as to which other module I need for clean {bassman, T/D} later. Iv got a Samson Star Sirius 30 [awesome clean] and a Cornford Hellcat, but I need the flexibility of the eggie for gigs. Basically Im an 80s rock/ classic rock sort of guy who is now leaning toward funk, jazz rock. One minute Gary Moore, next minute Robben Ford {read musical schizophrenic} Cant wait to fire it up 2 moro. cya :) ps any other mod 50 owners in Oz?

Welcome to the post!

The MOD 50 is a great amp for gigging. Nice choice of modules too. VX is very versatile and does clean, semi clean and lead pretty good for one module. VX and Bman are the most versatile for that kind of thing IMHO.

What can I say about the SL2 - everyone loves this one. A must have.

Congrats on getting a MOD 50! Best amp Ive ever had!

For your main style, Classic and 80s rock you have the very best 2 modules you could in the Vx and SL2. Vx will handle all of your classic Beatles and Queen tones, while SL2 will deliver your late 70s+ Marshall overdriven tones!

BMan mates well with SL2 for clean and semi dirty as well because of the similar EQ curve. It is warmer where the TD is more crisp. If you want to dabble in jazz and funk, Id recommend the TD over BMan. And for Robben Ford, check out the COD!

Welcome to the board and to the Egnater family! Anything you may need you should be able to get it here!

You just have to re orient the fuse on the back and everything else is the same I believe

When you bias the amp all knobs should be turned all the way down and the amp needs to be in high power mode.

I assume u bias with the speaker connected? thanx

YES! Every time you turn the amp on it MUST be connected to a load!

Hey guys this is my first post here too.
I'm from Australia too and have also just recently bought a used MOD50!
I've got the Deluxe, COD and SL2 Modules.
I'm hoping to get an E2 with and EG5 and another module that I haven't decided on yet.

Where exactly are you from Mcgas?
If you near Bendigo(Victoria) we should catch up. I would love to check out the Vox Mod!
That is sweet that you've also got a Hellcat. I played one at deluxe guitars in melb. It was great!

Cheers,

Justin

HI Justin, I think u got yours from David? I was next in line for that one if it fell thru! ill PM u my details 2 moro.

Also, is the Deluxe module still available, or has it been discontinued...thanx

haha yeah I did get mine from David. It's a small world!
I am under the impression that the now make the T/D instead
of the Deluxe but I think you can still get the Deluxe as a special order.

Personally if I was buying new I think I would go for the T/D as it seems a lil more versatile.

When you don't have a load connected you really do not cause any harm. Unless, you play your guitar and put the amp under load. It's like you really just started your car without an air cleaner not without oil! :D

Thanx Jeff for the email re the 240v, all sorted now. I didnt realize the tab was there to pull out the fuse with. U said put in a 1 amp fuse, and on the back of the amp it says 1.6A. I guess its ok tho.
