Ken Hoover Era 1987 Zion Radicaster

So, I got this thing mostly stock except for the non-f spaced Dimarzio Evo 2 I bought in it. I even had the stock PJ MARX humbucking single coils. The pots we 250K and a bit dirty and rough. I decided to clean it up a bit and went with a set of Tom Anderson H2+, SA1, SA1R and wired it for vintage voicing and push pull to toggle between hum cancelling on the middle and neck. I kept the original electronics and everything is reversible. I still haven't figured out the body wood yet, but it's definitely 2 piece. It has a super dark ebony board with virtually not fret wear. This thing set-up supremely and sounds spectacular as it looks.

That is about the closest I have seen one to my original Zion from '88!! That looks awesome. I had Ken put the same PU's in mine but I already had the mini switches so he wired like a TA with the blower switch. Really miss that guitar and have had no luck locating it over the past 20yrs since I sold it. I also had Ken make me a '59 shaped neck which really made all the difference to me.

Enjoy and if you EVER want to sell it, I call dibs

Yeah. What is it? Are you one of those guys that puts guitars on ebay but forgets that the guitar has a headstock?

You must be a picture book only guy :D It says in the post that it's a Zion Radicaster, but I added a headstock pic for you viewing pleasure.

Never heard of it, or ever seen anything about it. Looks awesome though. Seems like it might of been way ahead of the time for 1987. Good score for sure

Lots of good guitars form the 80's. These were made by Ken Hoover and right on par with the Anderson and Suhrs. I think they may have even used Anderson bodies back then. Ken later sold the company that still operates and makes similar guitar

Not familiar with these, but man... that's SWEET!

Beautiful axe! I would be SERIOUSLY in lust with that guitar if the Floyd didn't spoil it for me.

I was never big into floyds, but I have learned that I need a trem. While I like the Gotoh 510 or a strat trem, I don't like the "thunk" they make when resting back on the wood in they are not floating. If I am going floating, then I prefer the floyd
