Incoming Amp Day! I should post this on SSO to get them riled up, lol.
Alto Music has a 10% sale, so I used that to leverage zzounds for a price match plus + a 12 month payment plan on a black EVH 5150 iii 50watt. Shipping this bee-atch right to Kruse for a Stealth mod. For the love of god, I hope my FX8 can work with the midi on this head- anybody have this pairing?
This should be the workhorse amp for rehearsals as it will definitely be lighter than my other amps. I always loved me some EVH and his take on gear.

Congrats ! You'll love it ! I've had mine now over a year and still love mine.

I've used it many time both home volumes and jamming with the band. Always delivered, never an issue.

I just checked out Kruse and the 50 watt stealth mod.

Doesn't show a price on the site though.

BTW. I live very close to Alto music in Rockland County. They always have great stuff and the best prices !!

What kind of cab/speakers are you rocking? I have a Mesa OS vertical 2x12 v30s and a Krank 4x12 loaded with Legends & K100s. I'm sure I can get some tones out of this but still curious about adding an EVH cab.

I haven't had a chance to hook my FX8 up to my 50 watt yet but my G-System works fine with it. You should be good.

I have a TNL and I know Gorjilla (band I don;t really know but have had heard of) uses 5150iii >TNL
I can get something together. Problem is, I never played a stock 5150iii so there won't be much basis for me to anaylze the 2 versions. I think there's a stock 100w head where I rehearse though....

Will do ! I run through a carvin 212 with V30's. Sounds great
Whenever I run it through my 1960A cab, I realize how much better it sounds through the 212.
And yes, I've wanted to hear it through the EVH cabs myself. Sounds good on the YT vids..

I'm going to get the Supersonic & Stealth. The SSonic can be dialed in as needed or just at zero to keep it out. If it is like the DeKompression, I'll like it a lot dialed in moderately between 9-11 oclock.

Probably will skip the variac this time. I think that works well for vintage low gain tones that push the power amp which i don;t use a lot of (but I like)...but even more so I use for quieter times I use the Torpedo Live a lot so volume is not an issue.

Variac toggles the watts from 50-25-10-5-1
Stealth brings the amp to the specs of Stealth version
Supersonic can be dialed in for increased clarity, depth... See here

+1. A year ago I think I had emailed him when I contemplated getting a used 5153 50, and modding it. Had 2 previously, decent amps but when I heard a Stealth clip...whole nother animal there. He got back to me immediately and was very helpful.
