working on some higher energy Rock backdrop tracks or what not

I think it sounds pretty cool. What amp profile did you use on the Kemper?

I used my own 5153 Profile, called leadaholic, its on the exchange. Rythm just double tracked. Didn't quad or anything like that. Then for the lead type stuff, l used the Fischer Rock Fux OD1 stock profile

Man, your mixes always sound so cool...very nice!

hey Thanks for the listen!! you might surprised that I don't spend alot of time on mixing. Part of it is having some presets already made, but if the sounds are good, like they can be from today's modellers, and drum programs imo. sometimes the tracks just mix themselves. Use to have to spend more time before, not so much with all these fancy direct boxes and plug ins. Not a whole lot of Voodoo going on mix wise. But thanks man

sounds pretty cool to me.. it has dream theater elements to it.

I don't know, I think you're being a bit modest. After all, who setup and picked the presets. I agree, it's much better than it used to be. The drum programs are off the hook. My biggest issue is the bass guitar not wanting to sit in the mix very well. I don't know if it's my mixing skills (or lack of) or if it's my bass player not playing with "authority." The bass always seems undefined and nebulous.

I know I have the most trouble with the bass. Sometimes it just sits better then others. I ran my bass guitar through the Kemper using a distorted profile for some grit ad blended that with the direct bass as well. Usually that can help me have the bass nt get lost completely. But man bass is hard sometimes. I don't eq the guitars a whole lot just use compression in places with some high passing, which also helps make room or bass. But there are people here that have a much better bass sound for sure. Drums, I mix in some super compressed presets with a more open and roomy preset. Helps add grit and balls to drums IMO. Then I use ozone on the master to squash the crap out of it all and add overall eq to brighten master a bit. Some automated efx sends
Just for info

I'm interested in which Ozone preset or how you have Ozone set up for your masters. Any pointers are much appreciated.

I can't remember what I used as a base. I think just a general master preset then change a few things. Don't try to go too dramatic on the master and use subtle multiband compression. Some boost on the too end, and use the limiter pretty hard set to a fast setting. Mainly getting the volume from ozone. But added top end overall and a few minor things. Nothing dramatic.

If u are using ozone I can try to share my go to master preset. I usually just make subtle changes from there

Yes, I am using Ozone. I'd love to check out your go to master preset. I'm using Ozone 4 to be exact. I haven't seen the need to jump to 5 yet...what are your thoughts on 5?
