Hey! Finally uploaded 2 vids from our recent session. The first one is an intro to the amps we recorded. I actually uploaded it with an English voiceover track for those of you who don't speak Russian ;) Pardon my ghey-accent :D

These are the amps we had:
  • Mesa Dual Rectifier TubeTone Platinum+ Mod
    Mesa Mark V
    Peavey 5150 TubeTone Gold Mod
    Mako Makoplex
    Marshall JVM410H
    VHT Pittbull Ultralead
    VHT Pittbull 50CL
    Krank Krankenstein

Here's the high gain shootout

Unfortunately not all amps ended up sounding the way we wanted to. Especially the Ultralead. We had to pop in some fresh power tubes and didn't even bias the amp, because we were short on time
We'll eventually upload the clean channel shootout and the mic comparison videos, but those will take about a month more to edit.

Oh, come like us on Facebook please ;) We need as many fans as possible so that we can get a custom link ;)

The jester of Tortuga!

I liked the vids a lot, but one qualm with the demo riff is that there aren't a lot of full-bodied chords so it's hard to gauge how good the clarity/note separation is. I like the recto a lot, but I wonder if it sounds decent doing haunted shores type stuff.

Also...did you have someone/me ship that Mark V to you? I like the thought that one day I'm just playing some Mark V on it's layover in Massachusetts, next thing I'm watching it on a youtube video from Russia.

super cool! I liked most amps, and most sounded great in context. Just different shades. by themselves I liked the krankenstein least as well as the VHT,

good stuff, was that a bone stock jvm 410h ?

digging the tone from that, otherwise the mako and the dual rec

The Dual Rectifier and the Makoplex sounded the best to me.

They sure have that Mark V EQ'd wierd. But I like the way the Makoplex sounded.

I liked the way the Dual Rec sounds.....

but I been on a Recto Kick lately so I am biased...

They all sound pretty much the same to me. Small differences here and there. But nothing a few twists of the EQ couldn't do on a single amp.
I'm willing to bet they all FEEL very different, though.

Obviously, the VHT was the odd man out.

I thought the JVM sounded the best out of everything there. It's good I have one on order :)

All sounded very similar to me but they all sound good...too bad about the pittbull though. I liked the dual recto and the mako the best tho. Least favorites were the pittbull, krank, and peavey 5150 (which is weird because i usually love their recorded tone). Great vid. Thanks for sharing!

What's going on, Jason? Come to think of it, I think this is the amp u sent me

Yeah, I know.. if I'd be doing shootouts just for myself, I'd probably be satisfied with just a bunch of chords played slowly. But then I'd have sh*t thrown at me from metalheads who want riffs. You can never please everyone, you konw

IMO the standouts were the VHT Pitbull and the 5150. Makko also was really nice.

Great stuff.
Loved the Mako, Recto was cool too and the 5150 had that signature low mid grind.

Pitbull 50CL, Dual Rec and JVM for me. :) The Krank was the only one I didnt really like at all, everything else was pretty good. Shame about the Ultralead, wish that amp was more prepared!

I liked the Makoplex the most. The 5150 had a mad aggro sound (a good thing). The 50Cl wasn't too shabby either.

You did not do the UL justice Farid! It sounded way flat and lifeless. That amp is much better than that. :aww:

I liked the Mako best.
