Been trying to determine what to throw in the neck of the ssh Charvel that is loaded with ssl-4s which are almost Yngwie low output but damn they are fun to play and the tone is boss  Some fighting is involved to get some lics in but the reward is awesome.

Oh god I am going Mentoneman lame.........................

To save face damn I want that new Warren D Snake Dinky

im a fan of low output pickups with high gain.
let the amp do all the work and slam it with a tubescreamer if required.

Blah, I'm back to hating anything that involves gain and a single coil. BA-HUM-BUG.

I'm just liking the Suhr a lot more loaded with 2 Aldrich buckers. Funny, traditional strat guys seem to hate those Yngwie pickups since they claim they're only good for high gain. I guess I'll get a beater start one of these days, but on the cheap.

I'm so on the Dark Side now   I went 15+ years without owning a single humbuckered guitar - Strats only, to basically only playing my buckered guitars...single coils are sorta meddly meedly on the gainy stuff ( but really and truly OWN the cleans  ) I'm struggling with it. Love my Strat and Tele mutt for the clean to edge of breakup tones, but damn, gimme a humbucker for the drive stuff anymore or nothing at all

i love single coils for lead playing and fuzzes.
but yeah they can sound a bit thin for rhythm( especiall the strat bridge)

but im a sucker for a telecaster bridge pickup with a nice dollop of gain.

Fender Custom Shop 69's are my favorite single coil pickup ..low/med output, and really fun too play.

Its so true!! You really hear more of the guitar

Since this is "nig-talk" as you call it. And were a bunch of 80's metal hacks, why do you want to be associated with this forum? We will never get an answer on that one will we?

I just picked up a HWY 1 strat with custom shop 69 singles the other day (NGD post coming with some surf green goodness) and it flat out sounds killer feeding my RM100. Completely different beast than my LP's or SoCal but killer nonetheless.

Here's a good example of a broken record.

1. Register on Rig Talk

2. Post a few level headed responses in some threads.

3. Start posting clips.

4. Challenge ANYONE who has a different opinion on anything to a clip-for-clip showdown.

5. Racial slurs, 12 year old insults, personal attacks, etc.

6. BAN.

rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat. etc, etc, etc, etc, etc,

Why I am loving the ssh charvel ;)

One side of me wants to throw a hotrails into the neck but man that breaking up single tone is killer when you reach down and nail that one lick.

Nothing from Jol yet

The Yngwie pickups are my favorite for hum cancelling because they dont compress like most of the noiseless...they have an open clean sound, but you definitely have to dig in with mild gain settings. I've heard that the new YJM Fury pickups from Duncan which are coming out next week, have a tad more output than the old ones. just orderd some so we'll see.

never really bonded with sc's in the neck for rhythm and lead tones
ergo the tom holmes 450 paf style in the bridge...low output...warmth...snap...dynamics.

yep....my Wolfetone Dr. V's have a serious dose of air and snap in them as well when rolled back, enough so that I used to think I had somehow wired them in wrong and it was tapped  but alas not possible in a stock 2 lead wire and the pup roars back to life when cranked up. Super freaking cool really.

PM me what you find, would love to hear what you say between them

personally love strats and single coils for blues and dynamics, but they are for shit when you need extremely accurate and well defined rhythms - they just dont shine through that type of playing using high gain as good as humbuckers - the only single coil i have found that is worth a damn on high gain tones and still sound like a single coil is the aformentioned HS-3.

im in love with curtis novak custom single coils. guys got serious talent and i have played them - his shop is right near my hometown 30 minutes away.
