Ordered from GuitarFlow... and had them order me a set of Aldrich pickups... I got to play her for a few minutes. I'll say right off the bat, it's not what I expected. The only other Suhr I have played was a Modern Satin that I owned for 2 days. I thought this guitar would be as lite as that guitar... not the case. Just as heavy as my old Fender Strat.
The great thing about this guitar is that even though she is brand new, she feels like a guitar I've owned for years. I don't know what it is, but it feels familiar and I feel very much at home with her. If that makes sense.
As for the sound, the Aldrich pickups are super hot!!!! But they are clear and articulate. Very cool. I sold my Ibanez Jem 7VWH and Gibson LP Standard to get this... no regrets... she's great111
BTW, when I took her out of the case, she was in tune... dang...

HNGD!! Sick finish

The guitar was in-tune when you pulled it out? :scared: That's an oversight. I was under the impression that guitars should be de-tuned a bit to account for any atmospheric changes that could possibly warp the neck during shipping. I've never received a guitar brand new that was tuned up to pitch. Maybe I'm just trippin.' Regardless, that's a nice axe.

Every guitar I've ever recieved from a dealer or a manufacturer was in tune or close to it. I've talked to many dealers and builders and all of them say its best to ship tuned. The tension from the strings keeps the neck from moving and twisting.

I'm on my phone but it looks like the bridge pickup isn't parallel to the neck pickup.
Probably just the photo.

Congrats!

I get guitars that are tuned to pitch all the time. That's how I send 'em out too. Never had a problem...

For the record, I always detune the guitar before I ship

You know what bro, I just asked Mr. Suhr that question... he told me that he does indeed tune his guitars to pitch before he sends them out. Basically as long as it's packed really well, and the bridge is immobilized, fretboard guard, etc. Apparently, it is really only necessary for acoustics during shipping, so that a bridge won't pop off if it gets knocked around during transit.

I was taught, incorrectly I might add, that it could have a negative affect on the neck. Damn Guitar Center edjubuhckayshen.

oh crap... i just shipped out a guitar yesterday too... i detuned just a little bit... frak!!!

Nothing will happen...

Aside from acoustics, I detune Les Pauls (and most Gibsons) when shipping as well since they're prone to breaking...less tension seems to help in that regard in my experience.

Congrats on the new Suhr!

This! I've been playing Suhrs for the past three years and I now play them exclusively, as I've sold off everything else I had in order to fund more Suhr builds. As a matter of fact, I have yet another Suhr Modern build going into production next month. They are hands down, the best guitars I have ever played.

Congrats, on the NGD! Enjoy!
