As a child of the 80s/90s, I’ve always wanted to try out a headless guitar. I owned one of those steinbergers sold by musicyo in the 90s but it wasn’t that great so I sold it years back.

Last year, Dark Matter Instruments(sister company to Balaguer Guitars released a model called the Vega. To my surprise, Joe Balaguer made the prototype in a metallic purple. I told him that I would love to buy it if he ever sold it. When the time came for him to actually sell it, I didn’t have the cash so I missed out.

A couple of weeks back, I track down the person who currently owned it and asked him if I could buy it. He obliged and I got it the other week. It is absolutely amazing. The DM Fusion humbuckers are pretty hot but are very articulate and are well balanced.

It has a 20’ radius that feels super comfy. It’s the fastest neck I’ve ever had on a BG family guitar. The playability is effortless. The tone is super nice too. I love the liquid lead tone I can get with the neck pickup and the aggressive chug I can get with the bridge.

This is a fantastic instrument at a great price. If you are interested in entering the world of headless guitars and you don’t want to spend $1,500 or more, this is hard to beat.
