The one at Lark MUsic in NJ, $40,000!

I can see the PMs he is receiving now to get gut shots of that amp for the knock off boys     I am glad for the guy, he may have some crazy ideas about electronic properties but he sticks to his guns and puts people in their place in the world of dumble and dumble "cloners" for profit.

Wonder if he would ever go to a HOM ampfest??? :D

on a serious note, why are dumble amps considered $20,000+

20k? That's it. I thought it was more like 50k. The reason is people are funny.

And a select group of people in this world would eat Water Buffalo shit if Robben Ford told them to.

  :D

I'd rather spend about 1/8th of that on a decent collection, thanks.

Geez, $40k? That is absurd.

Pics of spray foam?

Val King (King Amplification) is going to do a YouTube series where he does a complete tune up of a Dumble ODS. Apparently there's a 16 year old kid in the area with one. His dad bought it from a neighbor for (well let's just say much less than TAG paid), but the tube sockets are crusty, pots scratchy etc...

Val said it's pre spray foam era so he's going to video the entire process. Should be interesting when the fairy dust gets released!

Val King just did my 74 Superbass head and fixed my Mark II C+ he is awesome.

Well, now that he owns it I'm going to guess that it will be the One True Robben Ford / Carlton / Dumble Tone and all he had before was good, really good, but THIS... is The One.

I think Tag just bought it for the godlike powers of crushing dissent with his opinions... How long before we see:
"Well I own a real Dumble and your amp doesn't have the upper harmonic complexity or rich violin tones" - etc.

Dumbles are cool but like Trainwrecks - they were built by human beings and have been taken apart and analyzed. There is no unobtanium in any tube amp.

Pete

Fuck that nonsense. For around 2k you can get a Fuchs.

Is Tag the new top dog over there now because of this?

40k?? Jesus. I saved for what felt like an eternity for my VH4 which is expensive compared to most heads (though it was well worth the wait), ten times that amount for any amp just blows my mind! Hmmm.....own a VH4, Herbert, Uberschall, XTC, Twin, Bones, Modded JCM, Deluxe Reverb, Plexi and Mark IIC+ with a bunch of Diezel cabs....or a Dumble....tough call.....

I guess "Dumb" is built right into the name

I've had the opportunity to play one here at a local high end shop and i honestly don't see why these things are that expensive.

If it was the case of him buying an amp that expensive to get his tone he was looking for, no problem. I don't think that is the case here.

Back in 1993 it was $20 and you got a free beer and topical ointment

i think he's gonna implode.

at least he can play well and is not just collecting, but obsessed with robben ford politician tone is a gross understatement. i heard robben used a recto for that cut

but he could have bought a car and ten amps and some guitars and decent recording equipment and made those amps sound every bit as good and better than the dumble, for the amount he paid.
