I just took a 1 hour webcam lesson with Greg Howe yesterday and it was absolutely awesome. He helped me out with my legato technique...he's a total genius. I recommend everyone try it out. He also does free trials, so you can meet him before you commit to paying.

Same here. For some reason, I was thinking about those soundpage "flex-disks" today, and how it didn't even seem inconvenient to have to tear it out of a magazine, set it on a larger vinyl album, then put it on a turntable, move the stylus to the soundpage by hand, and then sit down and listen to a 3 minute recording, only to get up and do it again. Some cool recordings that could have potentially launched some of the careers of certain guitar players. I remember Steve Vai "attitude song", Yngwie "black star", lessons by Brad Gillis, etc.
I was gonna try that but they never emailed me back after they made "sure" I was down for it... met him at RMA in 06 for a clinic he was real nice and Humble,,got to play with him it was funny....MARK1970":3g1mbk4n said:Yeah, I was checking that out.stringst":3g1mbk4n said:MARK1970":3g1mbk4n said:Indeed he is a monster musician. He was tied with Doug Aldrich (sp?) when I saw him in a club in NJ playing with Hurricane. Doug was using a rack of five marshall heads one of which had Hose stenciled on it (not sure if it was one of Marks or not). Doug also had a rack full of effects and the weird thing is I would say that Doug's tone was tied with Greg's (and very much alike), while coming from vastly different gear. Go figure...
That's funny that you mention that becuase out of all the tones he had, I dug the howe II tones the best. It actually reminded me of early VH at times....so I stand corrected on him always having a bad tone.SeaDog":1wkmbp3c said:Gainfreak":1wkmbp3c said:Greg Rules and and despite his obvious talent on guitar he has some of the sickest timing IMHO.![]()

I do like the tone he gets on "Extraction" CD though for that smooth fusiony tone. it almost reminds me of Holdsworth.
That album is cool....the mix is terrible and his tones are pretty bad too....stringst":1prs89ky said:Have you heard "Sound Proof"? I thought that album had the best tone that Greg Howe has ever gotten. The cover he did on "Tell Me Something Good" knocked me on my ass![]()
I saw that tour too....awesome show. Just noticed he's playing Cleveland in Aug....gotta get some tix!70strathead":3y6abp1a said:Gainfreak":3y6abp1a said:That's funny that you mention that becuase out of all the tones he had, I dug the howe II tones the best. Back during the Hurricane days, Doug was using a variety of modded Marshalls, most of which were modded by Frank Levi! But i know for a fact that he had a Jose Arredondo modded Marshall that he used during that time too, so who knows.. maybe the 'Hose' amp was the Jose modded Marshall but they mispelled 'Jose'?![]()
