Hey - looking to put together some gear for recording, mainly building a desktop computer to handle all my recording software duties. What are your guys home recording setups? What desks are you using, what PC's, what interfaces, etc? Pictures would be cool to spark some ideas in my head

Studio RTA desk (2 19in racks on each side, KB riser) top 19in rack. I use Sonar to record and have a Windows PC, M-Audio FireWire 1814 interface, Event monitors, combination of M-Audio and ART dual Tube mic pre's and SM57's.

I'm a long time Cakewalk/Sonar user (since 1989) but recently switched to Reaper on a Mac Mini and love it. You can share files with the PC version.

For interfaces I've used both M-Audio and Presonus without any problems. Right now I have a Firepod and a Audiobox USB connected to the Mac.

My desk is a Middle Atlantic with a side rack. I also work from home using this desk :)

Mine is extremely simple.

I use my windows 7 laptop with Reaper. For an interface I use the Focusrite Scarlett 18i6...it does the job but I have had issues with it. I have a set of cheapo M-Audio monitors and that's basically it. Recorded my whole CD through it and am working on another.

My Ipad docked in a Alesis I/O dock, with an SM57 and using Garage Band...:D

Desk is from IKEA! Basically two horses and a top. Wish it was a tad longer, but oh well.
PC I pieced together myself inside a rack case. ASUS/Intel bones.
Main interface is a Fireface800. Win 7 and Cubase 6. Super stable.

Kind of a mess at the moment

I built my pc. Guitar/bass/keys go direct in through the two notes. Vocals/acoustic instruments go through my gap pre 73/FMR RNC. Scarlett2i2, though I'd like to upgrade that in the not too distant future. JBL LSR 2328 monitors that I just got today. Had been using KRK rokit 6's that were ok. Desk is something from guitar center, I dont remember what brand/model, but if you know anyone that works at gc that can get you a friends/family discount the markup on desks/furniture is ridiculous so you can get a good deal on it that way.

EDIT: Forgot the most important part. A chair with only one arm.

I turned a small, spare bedroom into my recording space. I'm a minimalist so I do need a huge area like a basement or what not. I like keeping the heads and pedals within arms reach of the little corner workstation so I can tweak while listening to the M-Audio budget monitors. The mic'd cab is on the other side of the same room in the emptied out, treated closet. I get LOUD tones without pissing off neighbors or killing the cat, lol. Like others, I also built my own PC (W7 Ultimate) for home recording (and gaming ). Running two mics (e906 + sm57) into a ProFire 610 into Cubase (long time user, just feel comfy with it). Pretty damn minimal but I personally get better results this way.
