Thank you Beyond Black. I really appreciate the opinion and feedback.

You nailed it.

There are a few guys with amps that try to get that tone from the Bogner modded Ronnie Champagne owned Marshall Snorkler that Cantrell recorded Facelift with. I have seen a few and even own a one off “Cantrell” by Mark Cameron but this is a different circuit layout though heavily influenced by some German engineering in addition to my brain pan and ears.

I use my ears to get there as I am not privileged to have seen the blue board Bogner builds that a couple guys have which were/are relative to the Snorkler.

I think EXPCustom still has his that he purchased from someone in Bogner’s home town through eBay. Mark (Cameron) was kind enough to sort through the unfinished circuit to get it up and running. They are a couple good guys. At least they treat me with respect.

Anyway I wanted to explore that sonic corner to hear where it takes me. Of corse I will build it for versatility in order to play anything that heavy but with its own distinct tone like Pandora.

I installed a Metropoulos Loop. I now have some other ideas to try out on switches and rotary switches etc...

Thanks again for checking it out and dropping a shout.

Hey, my buddy Michael. Thanks for listening as it is in development. Glad to see you on the boards.

Looks like you too have been busy.

I appreciate the kind words and support from a builder with a great ear and a players player.

I think this is what makes David's designs so spot on is his "ears" and he is not just copying someone else's board design value for value. I own one of David's Pandora JCM800's w/ V Mod and I must say that it is dialed in perfectly for that 80s/90s hard rock/metal/hair band tone. From the high-end to the mids to the low-end, David has nailed the tone and feel. When David mentions the terms "chewiness", "openness" and "rawness" of tones and how each of his mods adds this in, he couldn't be more spot on with those definitions.

Top his designs off with a Metro Loop and you have a killer hot-rodded Marshall amp.

Thank you for the great words and interest. I have thought about rack preamps but it wouldn’t be cost affective for either party.

Not certain I am going to sell this amp or not. I likely will as have more than I need.

Sounds really good! Very mean.

As much as the Snorkler contributed to Facelift, it should be mentioned that the core of the rhythm tones on that album came mostly from a boosted blackface vintage Bassman. The leads were all Snorkler, and parts of the rhythm but that dark chewy growl you hear in the beginning of ‘We Die Young’ is boosted Bassman.

Per Mr Champagne himself, a few yrs back when he posted up some facts about the gear actually used to record Facelift.

Thank you very much. I knew Jerry always used a lot of different amps but I did not know about the Bassman which is no stretch as it is relative to a 50 watt 1987. Super cool indeed.

So now on my own thread not drifting off course too much I understand Jimi used a Bassman on much of Electric Ladyland.

Thanks again, David

Hey thank you so much riffs. Your words and support are indeed well received.

I appreciate you taking time to listen to the new circuit and my home studio production.
