what are some of the hottest passive pickups you can get without going actives ? my so-cal has the factory tone zone/evo pickups and they just dont have the bite i am looking for. my rg with emg's and the 18v mod blows it away soundwise (not in playability). if i have to i will go with emg's, but was hoping to stay with passives if possible

Motor City,Solutions? There are several others, hot for sure without the mud. And solid, clear lowend.

SD Invader.

But really, why not go with the EMGs?

I have not tried the Motor City Pickups Solutions, but the Afwayu is my favorite full sized humbucker! Just killer! I think it's about 16k, great lowend and very clear.

BG Pickups Hellabucker is real hot but has killer clarity and complexity.

i love emg's but the only passive id even consider using is the duncan super v they are kind of hard to get but holy shit are they brutal. heres a video i did comparing the super v to an emg 81. they are VERY similar

It is difficult to get good clean tones For me on the neck pickups with my emg's. I know i could roll back the volume, but then it seems like the tone dulls when i do. I figured i could run a really hot bridge prickup with a fairly mild neck pickups with passives.

Duncan Distortion? I love it for a really extreme sound, takes high gain settings fairly well. Fits the sound.

Try lowering the neck pick up a little to reduce the volume.

I tried that, it wont go any lower in the ibanez. I may just stay with actives in the charvel too and get one of those 89's or something so i can coil tap it.

Bare Knuckle "PAINKILLER" set
replaced EMG's in my Les Paul.

Thats the trade off when dealing with high output pups. You are gonna loose some clarity on your clean tone. Thats just whats gonna happen. If you want a clean "clean" tone use medium to low output pups with a boost or OD for you lead tone.

If you really love the 81 or 85 in the bridge but need a great clean sound in the neck then put a 60 in the neck. It has great cleans that are amongst the best IMO.

I don't personally think "bite" is a consequence of output. At least not solely. If anything, with high gain you'll lose bite because your tone will just get more and more compressed.

Anderson H3+

My guitar in this clip has the Anderson H3+ in the bridge. I really like it. It is definitely more compressed than the H2+ but I love the output and surprised with how dynamic it still sounds. Let me know if you have any questions about it.
