Pro vs Poser...

At the end, Don should have asked the audience; Anyone else wanna get their head cut? ...Warren, Jake, and George bolt for the exit! :hys:

Don has a look on his face, as though he were playing with a first year guitar student.

Fuck Slash, and his God-awful vibrato.

One of the most overrated guitar players on the planet.

 Slash's arms are weird.

Slash is better than half the guys on Rig Talk at any time, and that's a fact!!!

Who's the other guitar player? Duke Robillard? That's the last guy I saw play live back in March.

I read the comments first and was expecting a much worse performance. You guys kinda set very high standards?
In the end of the day, how would Don Felder perform on a Slash solo?

One day Slash's hat and wig will fall off while he is playing.

One of the most classic guitar solos of all time. I love Felder and always thought he was the best guitar player in that band (and I love Joe Walsh too). They played off of each other perfectly in that song.

To be fair Felder's been playing that song since forever. Slash was fine there imo. I've heard way worse from others (Yngwie and Jimi immediately come to mind).

I like Slash. I like Slash's playing a lot. Haven't watched this vid yet but I doubt that it would change my opinion.

Felder is an excellent player and writer. Just a different type of player and personality than Slash.

Has anyone every seen Slash live play as well as he did on AfD? I never have, in fact I tend to think someone else played lead on that album.

He’d nail it, and with much better vibrato.

Slash has spent his entire career emualting Joe Perry. I recall seeing pics of Slash wearing duplicates of Joe's late 70's stage apparel, right down to his boots and tiger claw necklesses. The only difference, is the top hat shtick that he kyped from Alice Cooper. Slash is a talented enough musican to forge his own identity, but he instead chose to emulate Joe Perry. Whatever. Slash is no Don Felder, but then neither are most pop players.

Note: The Hotel California outro soloing was Joe Walsh's idea.

Slash's performance on Hotel California is an example of guitarist who is out of his element. Imagine Don Felder stepping onstage with Ace Frehley to play Shock Me. :scared: There's no excuse for Slash's out of key playing, but then, I'm not so sure it matters to Slash either way.

Slash has suffered the same lucrative fate as his idol, Joe Perry... He has become a caricature of himself. All image - no substance. Does irony apply?
