How about KT77's in the MOD50?

I'm basically a EL34 kind of guy, but with all the problems regarding these tubes that we been reading about lately I was thinking about going for KT77's for my MOD50.

Any thoughts on the KT77's? Any recomendations on which brand to choose?

I have never tried KT77's before but I guess they're closer to EL34's than 6L6's.

Or is the 5881's perhaps a better choice? Please enlighten me...

Tried them and thought, Meh...not so good. They were JJ KT77. They had a certain upper mid range rasp that I didn't like. Your experience may be different. Try em out and report back

I had the same result w/ KT77s. I've been using the GT E34L's with great results in my Randall RT2/50 paired w/ my Svet 6550s

Ok I have them in my RM100 in the middle with JJ E34L mixed on the sides and really like that combination. Im waiting for it to be mod'ed. I dont know about just KT77's alone.

I have the Svet 6550s and a pair of the GT-EL34M (6ca7s) in ... they absolutely rip!

Thanks for the replies! I think that I will stick with the NOS EL34's I have laying around for now...
