How are the Black Shadow MC90's for clean tones?

I was one of the first people on the net who talked up mc90's maybe 10 years back . I really really liked them for any tone from clean , to edge to hi-gain .. . I still do .. BUT for cleans, I really really like the H75 Scumbacks (65 watters are good) .. Just perfect. . Also I think my favorite overall speaker are PV Scorpian Plus's.. BELIEVE It or not.. I have a basement full of well over 50 speakers and many different kinds, but the Scorpian Plus's to me are the best for clean and hi-gain . They need to break in (just a bit) and match your amps of course , but they're killer.. (not the regular Scorpians) ..

I love many other speakers, but just figured I 'd mention that for cleans, I think those are quite a bit better than Mc90's even though mc90's are awesome speakers

MC90's sound good with my mesa mark IV for cleans, but sound pretty poor with my fenders for clean. I would rather use an EV, JBL, or Weber Jensen clone for cleans over the MC90. I think the MC90's excel more at gain than clean, even though Gainfreak's clip sounded awesome....

I was one of the first people to tell Randy you need to put Celestions in your amps/cabs. This came from me plugging my Mark II, III into 4X12's. Everything came with EVL's. He told me he did not like the cleans in what Celestions had at that time. That is where the MC90's came from. I have one of the first ones, I was the first person to get a Mark IV combo with a Celestion in it.

I really like my halfback 4x12 with mc90s for cleans, that open top really allows the tone to bloom throughout the room and the mc90s are dark enough to not ice pick with single coils.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...maybe Dave has a 2x12 I could take off his hands soon.............

They are great cabs. I have a old slant 2x12 that has the back you can take off the back off the top speaker that I use all the time. I still have two EVL's they are great in a different way. On a personal note Scott, Ralph, Kage - I am very glad you guys came back.

Will sound great with your incoming, throw them in an open back 2x12.

With that said, The MC90's sound killer for clean but in my opinion, the guitar that you will use and the pickups loaded in it will have a drastic affect on the sound....hell people were getting killer clean tones with strats and greenbacks, so that should tell you something!

i dunno im not all that big a fan of them. i brought my mark iv head to the studio and they had a mesa mark series cab loaded with the mc's and i was getting flat unresponsive tones with that cab. when i switched over to my cab loaded with vintage 30's i seem to get more of what im looking for in my head. but ralphs clip does sound nice i will say..

They are definitely very Cab specific and I have heard Mark series cabs that just sounded like total crap because they were beat to hell!! I brought my MKIV to a studio in Long Island city for a band rehersal and they had an old Boogie cab there and I was happy about that until I plugged into it!! The cab sounded like total shit so I plugged into an oversized recto cab and it actually killed!!

With that said, there are so many great speakers available for cleans, so I think that if Paige is getting an unloaded cab and has to buy speakers,he can do better and cheaper then the MC90's but if the cab already comes loaded with them, he should be able to use it with no problems for cleans unless theya re beat to shit lol!!

I agree 100000%. The amp is going to be a Two Rock K&M Custom and I'll most likely be using my '69 RI CS Strat. I'm sure his combo will give me some amazing clean tones, I just want a speaker that will compliment this setup...
