How are the JJ Jr's holding up out in the field?

I have been watching for some of these to start popping up in the classifieds and just saw the first head show up yesterday. After the honeymoon phase are they still holding up as a great 20 watt modded Marshall, or are any shortcomings showing up?

All of this is subjective of course. My simple jam room needs are not the same as others who want DI's, tons of versatility, and/or stadium type volume. I love big bottle power tubes but rarely get the chance to get the masters up on any of the three 100 watt heads I have now above 2 or 3 anyway.

Always wanted a Friedman and at $1500 new, I could pull the trigger on a JJ Jr. and then maybe unload one of the big boys if it scratches that modded Marshall itch.

At the end of the day, it is a fabulous sounding 20 watt amp. It sounds much bigger than it looks! I really liked mine. I used it live through the summer and it worked and sounded great. Unfortunately I did sell mine but not because there was anything wrong with it. I just found that I wanted everything in one box and wanted to carry a bit less around with me to gigs. I also wanted to use something that I had a backup when playing live that I could literally just drop in place in under 30 seconds and go. I also sold my BE-50 as well. Both incredible amps. I’m glad I had the chance to own and use them.

If you can find one at a good deal, grab it!

Werd. ...So what are you using now?

I have an Axe 3 and a Kemper. I am running them through a couple of Friedman 10” monitors.

I have mine for sale. Its a great amp but I wasnt in love with it from the beginning. Ive kept mine for a couple weeks to see if it grows on me but I have a KSR Orthos and I had a Monomyth modded Superlead that were better suited for my needs. I keep going back and forth on keeping it but I have a 2204 and a V2 Caldera on the way.

I have had one since early July but I havent been able to play much due to shoulder and bicep issues in my fretting arm. I was able to give the JJ Jr a good run yesterday and I really dig the amp. I ran it thru a Marshall cab that is loaded with 75s and it didnt sound bad. I think V30s would probably sound better with this amp.
