1080p is definitely better. Do you have the PS3 setup to run games at the highest resolution possible?

Actually I didn't notice as big difference in games between p and i. I should've stated that I noticed it on blu-ray movies. It's a HUGE difference. p is all blurry while i is pristine!
The plasma downstairs is 1080p and it looks WAY better though

Don't know what you mean by that but I know it's able to display 1080p. When you set ps3 to show all resolutions available it puts out the best one you selected. If your monitor doesn't have 1080p it doesnt show it. In my case it shows it but it's crappier than 1080i.

That besing said.. just because it supports a 1080p input.. does not really mean you are seeing a 1080p picture... A 28" monitor most likely has a native resolution of 720p equivalent, 1366x768 resolution.

I doubt your TV even supports 1080p if it's a 28" Viewsonic. I could be wrong though. What's the model name of it?

If its a monitor, at 28" it's likely to be running at 1920x1200 (16:10)
If this is the case, the monitor maybe upscaling it to stretch to all 1200 vertical pixels. There maybe a monitor setting to stop it doing this. You WILL have black bars but the quality will be PRISTINE.
If its a TV, yeah, it's more likely to be 720p depending on age (or rather 1366x768, 16:9).
I'd set your ps3 in 720p mode in that case. If it is a TV that can do 1080p, it'll be advertised as 1920x1080 (16:9).

I'm a RETARD! I was testing both component and hdmi cable to see if there's a big distance. When I put on 1080p, I was on component cable. I don't know if it matters (but apparently it does) but when I realized and changed to HDMI cable and put it on 1080p, it was PERFECT. Doh!
Basically 1080i with component cable and 1080p with HDMI cable looks perfect. But 1080p with HDMI is pretty amazing.
