How do YOU feel about speaker cable upgrades?

Do you believe you can hear a difference between lower and higher end cables?

I own three speaker cables - George Ls, Planet Waves and Evidence - and I really do believe each sounds better than the last in the order I listed them. For example, to me, the George L's sounds the thinnest and a little harsh, whereas the PW is fatter but seems to lack clarity. The EA is the most balanced and is a lot clearer, whilst also sounding fat.

Now, if this is a placebo effect then so be it, but it's a pretty special one.

Opinions?

Have you tried a blind test between all three? Have someone else switch them out.. :) I just use generic speaker cables from a local mom n pop store so I don't really know

I can't tell difference between a generic speaker cable and my vovox

But instrument cable is a whole different story. Vovox is more clear, articulate, open sounding. They brought sustain back to my tone!

I have a lot of different ones and I actually prefer George L's over all of them. The rest sound exactly the same but I can hear a little teeny bit of difference with George L's. When measured with a meter there's less resistance and capacitance on the George L's than on my Monster Studio, Evidence, Core X2, and Live Wire. The Live Wire comes in at a close second and is ironically cheaper than any of the others. The Evidence is one of the biggest disappointments I've purchased. Sounds no different than my homemade cables that are CHEAP wal-mart speaker cables with radio shack jacks.

The George L's make my rig sound a little more powerful with smoother highs and a tad more bass.

Truth is they're all conductors and so long as they're the same gauge, same length, with the same quality of copper they're going to sound identical. I think George L's underestimates their gauges and uses the best copper they can find.

Interesting. I upgraded to Vovox from Livewire. There's WTF amount of difference between the two and that's favoring Vovox. Livewire feels like there's blanket over speakers with less sustain in comparision.

I just feel more secure using my Voodoo cables over any other. One of the last things I want is a speaker cable to go.
