I am thinking about selling my Bogner 4x12 but not exactly sure how to ship it. I am thinking UPS store since they package items but will they do a 4x12 cab? What's the cost typically? Thanks!

I've shipped a few 2x12"s and 1x12"s over the years, but doubt I ever will again. It's just a pain in the ass, and the cost is prohibitive - especially if you're trying to ship a 4x12" cab.

At this point, if I really don't want one of my cabs anymore, I'll just sell it locally and take a big loss.

Sorry, I know this is no help.

Cost is up to the buyer. They need to have an open pocket for all shipping costs for things to work out correctly.

I've shipped two cabinets. One of them to a member here on RT.

UPS is the only store that will take a loaded cabinet but if i had to do it again i would go UPS Freight only.

Grab an old blanket from goodwill, corner protectors if you can find them, bubblewrap the blanket and corner protectors, make your own box for the bubble wrapped cabinet, and then shrink wrap the box. Secure the cabinet to a pallet with metal tie-downs face down if rear loaded, face up if front loaded.

All of that at the cost of the buyer + freight charges. It usually costs around $150-$200 to ship a cabinet after all shipping and wrapping expenses covered. Definitely not cheap.

Greyhound seems to be a viable solution, but I've never been involved in it directly. I'm in the "sell it locally for a huge loss" camp.

I have a guy who's a custom box cutter in the city. I drive my cabs down, he puts 'em on a big table, triple cuts the heavy duty cardboard, custom cuts and inserts high density styrofoam, and tapes it up. Best thing ever - and ya - it costs money, but the packaging is rated for 200lbs, the cabs are usually 100lbs give or take. I've sold 3 cabs, and EACH buyer was BLOWN away when they arrived - totally happy with the slight upcharge I negotiated in the price of the sale.

That sounds reasonable and like you took very good care Mo.

Brad charges $150 to ship a cab, so I imagine that's about standard. I have purchased some of my Diezel cabs from him. The boxes are strong and they have snug foam on the top and bottom, but that's it. They come that way from the factory and that's in Germany. No problems with that for me.

Quick spam: For sale (Tampa area) Diezel RL 4X12 loaded with NEW Tone Tubby ceramic hempcone speakers.
