How do you guys store your guitars in your house?

In cases? Where do you store the cases? Shelves? In corner of a room? Guitar rack?

I live in CA so the earthquakes have me paranoid leaving any guitars out of their cases

Looking for ideas

I use a wall rack in my studio for most of mine.

In the case, away from windows and vents.

I do not have a dedicated gear room yet since my basement is not finished. I will not leave my guitars in a dusty basement.

I have wondered about this from time to time. I hear it can be bad to leave in a case but I also wonder about those stands people use and the guitars getting dusty and rusty.

I am not sure what is the best method, marked for later.

I only put them in the case when they leave the house. I have a dozen hanging on the wall, 6-8 in a rack and few siting around propped up against the amp wall.

I good rule of thumb is i never keep a guitar or amp in a climate i wouldn't want to be in myself.

in the cases, standing on end headstock up. they all have bright gaffer tape with the guitars number(RCMLF#1,RCMLF#2...etc)on the side and the guitars current tuning.

Strewn about everywhere. If you want to sit down you'll prob have to move a guitar.

Here in Florida if you take your case to a hot, humid environment the interior will absorb moisture so my guitars actually age/corrode less when not in the case. I get that there are methods to reduce/control moisture in cases but I don't want to have to do that for every one. So I mostly just leave em out.

I have them hanging on the wall or Hercules stands. I use to leave them in cases, but I noticed that one particular guitar with a fussy neck suddenly righted itself after hanging it, so I'm superstitious I guess and just hang them all. I worried that an ill-fitting case or something might cause issues.

For the last 20 years, mine have been kept mostly on wall hangers, but now I also have a few in cases under our bed. Sure they can get dusty when out on hangers, but dust comes off, and I've never had any issues with rust, but I guess that depends on your local environment.

Isn't the low humidity that comes with heating a house in the winter an issue? The humidity in my place is 30% or less during these very cold months.

^ it can be, but it's much less of an issue for solid bodies. If you're worried, a room humidifier isn't terribly expensive.
