Hi all.

Im interested to hear from people about keeping track of their amp settings (e.g: bass at 7, mids at 6, treble at 8 etc). Do you write on your amp? If so, what do you use?

Do you put stickers on your amp? If so, what do you recommend? Happy to hear about any other recommendations also - give us some good ideas!

Thanks

I take a picture with my phone of the settings that i like and then use the picture as a reference.

Exactly

Use to right them down on masking tape which I had on the back of the amp - before cell phones, lol.

I set the knobs on my JTM45 about 9 years ago and haven't touched them since. ;)

Blue painters tape and a sharpie is what Ive used for a long time now!

Oooh - good idea. I'll try that one = thanks

I just remember the settings. Not that many knobs on my amps I guess.

it works and doesn't leave residue on the covering of the amp.

Claudio Sanchez scratched out the paint on my amp for his settings...... so I just go off of that :scared:

That said, I recommend the sharpie and masking tape as well. It helps you tweak a little more precisely if/when you are recording.

Never marked settings before. I remember may base settings but always adjusting based on cab, guitar, volume, room ect.

I either take a picture and/or write my settings in a notebook for the more complicated amps and pedals. I need to do more writing down so I feel more comfortable in turning knobs, I often get into ruts with my amps and pedals where I don't explore alternate settings after I get them dialed in.

I don't mark the amp, I just remember the settings even on more complex amp like the Mark V.

This.....i never marked settings on an amp in my life. It was always set the same once I got it dailled in for rehersals, then when we played out, i'd dail it in for the room. I never once thought about using my eyes to dail my sound in for a gig.
