Hey guys, Ive been wanting a mockingbird forever, and have found what seems like a good one for a reasonable price.
its a warmoth body and neck. I've heard a fair bit of good stuff about warmoth, but how would it compare to the average BC rich's of recent such as the mockingbird st etc? Im looking for one with a floyd so narrows down the options.
I know a lot of the bc richs are neck thru compared with bolt on warmoth, but dont know if that is really a deal breaker for me, a good bolt on is probably better than a crap neck thru.
Just need some general opinions to push me to buy or hold out for a mean 80s bc rich or something else again.
Cheers

I have used their products on quite a few builds, they have great stuff. I am waiting on a neck from them that will be here today. The only bad thing about them I can say is the customer service part has went to shit over the last couple years but the wood and craftsmanship is great. I have heard they use ovens rather than natural drying but I've had great tone out of what I've bought from them. I've been waiting for my neck since Dec 7th, the neck I bough was already built, it just needed frets installed. They assured me several times that I would receive it before Xmas but oh well! I dont want to sound like I'm trying to bash them, while I am a little pissed at them I will buy from them again. Ive already posted this but this is the body I bought from them for the guitar I'm going to put together, its mahogany/maple.

I bought a replacement strat neck and I got it in just under a month. I spoke to the Customer Service dept twice and they were pretty good about answering all of my questions. I love the neck. The only thing I need to do is file the edges of the frets. They are a bit sharp for my taste. But overall I would definately recommend them.

I have bought 2 necks, a body, and a body blank. This is the ONLY beef I have with anything. After a half hour there is no beef though. I love the compound radius necks and all the options you can get. Birds eye maple neck with ebony fretboard? Yes please.

Here's a sampling of my Warmoth builds. Everything I've got from them has been 100% top notch. Sonically, they're very consistent, and everything I could ask for in a great gigging guitar.

You WILL need to have it professionally set up. You WILL need to have the frets dressed and leveled and the nut slots fine-tuned. The neck does NOT come totally "ready to play" if you're seeking perfection. Don't expect to just bolt on the neck and have a great player...

Bottom Line: The final setup, your attention to detail, and your skill in construction will determine whether it turns out as a "Custom Instrument" or a "partsocaster".

Yes, I love teles. :D

I built these two using Warmoth bodies and necks, no complaints what so ever. Top of the line woods and great finishes, along with the ability to spec it out the way you want it.

Once it has been strung up for about a week, just have a set-up done on it and you're ready to go. Both necks were perfect for me, just needed a truss rod adjustment. No fret leveling needed on mine. Did have to file 1 or 2 nut slots on the Tele, but no biggie as it's part of a set-up anyway, just depends on the strings you go with.

Customer service was great for me. They did just have a big 30th year blow out sale that was huge, so they could be pushed pretty hard right now, but they were great to me.

NICE!!!!!

cheers guys, probably should just buy it by the sounds.
its not new stuff, its used and all built already so should save some of the hassles, but at the same time means i miss out on spec'ing it out exactly. but the thing is that it is pretty much to the spec's i wouldve had bar a few minor things.
so overall do you think the quality would be better than the average bc rich st mockingbirds?
