How is the EVH 112 cab?

I see it only has a G13H30 speaker, although it's recommended to pair with the 50 watt head. How does it sound? And is it safe to use with the head?

I've emailed EVH support to confirm. In the meantime, I thought "screw it", and ordered the head and the 112 cab. I already have a 212, but wanted a 112 for smaller gigs and home use.

i remember asking this waaaay back when, as i too was thinking of getting a 50w/112 setup. And actually for a brief moment I did have the 112 paired with my EVH 50w. IIRC, the EVH 112 is "made" to go with the 50w.

I got a 50 watt head last week, and it's a beast. Love it!

If you are set on 1x12, also see if you can get your hands on a Hesu Wizard cab with a Demon speaker.

The Demon can handle 60 watts and is sort of like a V30, but more aggressive.

However, might not be to your taste, so see if you can locate one just to try out, or do youtube auditions.

I know I like pairing my Kraken - which is a bit 5150ish - with that cab.

I also used this head with a 2x12 and decided to buy the 1x12 for the same reasons as you. It didn't last long. The 1x12 sounds good
but 2x better with the 2x12

I used 2 EVH 1X12s with my 50 watt and loved it. That head actually sounded better through those than my Bogner OS 2X12. Mine did not seem to like V30s

Well, I went with the 112. I'll likely never get the volume about 4 or so. Plus I have a 212 if needed.

I emailed EVH support, questioning a 30 watt speaker with a 50 watt head. This was their response.

"The speaker is rated at 30w, but is tested to exceed the 50w output of the head and matches up really well."
