So I recently stopped and said "wow, I have A LOT of gear" and decide to ask you fine peeps, am I nuts  or just enjoying myself? :D

I make a decent living, no kids, pay all my bills on time and my bulldogs are fat and happy. I work hard 40+ hours a week and don't ask to borrow from anyone. Right or wrong, the down economy has pushed alot of gear into the want ads. Sometimes I flip it, most times I hold onto it.

Is this wrong? How many is too many? Does GAS ever end?

I'd like to see what everyone else has. Btw, I'm not trying to say look how big my amp closet is, just don't want to feel alone with my craziness

In case your wondering what's pictured:

WOW, that is just rediculously awesome   More power to you. I don't have near that much but still have a bunch I need to sell or not, the only thing that worries me is thieves or a fire.

It's up to you what you do with your money. If you are enjoying them, more power to you. Where I question myself is when I have so many similar guitars. Does the time ever come when you say, "and now I feel like playing my 7th favorite guitar". Or, this is my 5th favorite amp for hard rock tones. Is the time ever going to come when you want to play your 17th favorite guitar into your 11th favorite amp?

Where I run into problems is that three of my amps are vintage Marshalls so while my Splawn smokes my JCM800 and my Peacemaker smokes my '70 Super Trem and my '72 Super Lead, I still don't want to seel them because they are tough to replace.

One last thing, I'm going to guess by the way those amps are stacked you don't live in California. :D

I'm close to your situation except my thing is super strats. I've only got about twelve or so but their pretty much all high-end (suhr,TA,Vigier, ect). I just feel guilty because my talent level doesn't justify having so many nice guitars. Do you play out? or gig?

Nothing wrong with that... But get those Bulldogs on a leash and work 'em out.

Jelous!! If you can swing it then not crazy. Would live to have all the choices and that's the only reason I use moddellers often cause I can't afford all the real things. ;-)

Absolutely nuts. Only way to fix this is to send me the MK IIC+ and the Hughes & Kettner Access ASAP!

:hys:

Like you said, all the bills are paid, got it made in the shade... It's all good.

Seriously, though... Get those pieces in the mail to me... We'll both feel much better.

Yep, total koo-koo...but that picture looks fucking cool!!

Honestly though - buy and enjoy what makes you happy! I find it hard to free up enough time to fully use my couple heads, guitars and pedals, couldn't imagine what would happen if I had a real mound of gear.

if you're ever feeling particularly philanthropic, i accept charitable donations.

Hey I can help you just send me the bogners and that will help relieve some of the stress for you  :D

Just kidding :D

Nothing wrong with it as long as you are happy and enjoy playing them

@racerevlon
Amps are packed up but I ran out of bubble wrap. I used 10s and 20s as packing material, hope that's ok

Believe it or not, most of these get played on a regular basis. I play in a semi-pro local band but some of the more expensive amps don't leave the house. I would have a full freak out if some buttplug set a beer on my MkIIC+.

Being in a band, I have been slowly building a project studio (don't get me started on that gear list) and being a guitarist I wanted a wide availability of sounds.

BTW, I should also say I'm available for reamping. :D Just send me a request. Thanks

Too much is when you have to stock them outside the house. During winter. Summer's still ok :D

For me I try to use the year I have. If I am not using it at least once every few months than I figure I have too much.

So for me that would be too much. Only you know the right amount of gear for you.

What I struggle with is stuff like 12 string guitars. I have a 12 string acoustic and electric that I don't use much, but when I want to record with one, they are wonderful to have.

Well then I would just walk around and quickly plug into everything every few months, just so I could keep it.

That would at least keep the caps charged on the amps, so that would be a good thing.

If you think you have a problem, then you very well might have a problem.

When it comes to gear, I've really been reassessing what it is I need, and what I can do without. I believe I'd be a better player, a true "master" of my gear and all its nuances, if I simply cut back to 1 maybe 2 guitars, and 1 amp. Just get to know it. I mean, how many of the "greats" started with a warehouse of gear? I can't think of one. They all started humbly, and many of those "greats" today continue to use much of the same stuff, maybe just augmented with sponsorships and royalties and signed deals. But I think about this a LOT. I'd play the shit out of my 1 guitar and 1 amp if that's all I had, and I bet I'd get to know that 1 amp and 1 guitar very very well.

On a less serious note, the only indication that you may have a problem is that I see a Bugera in that pile. Dude, we all know about the 1 bad apple...cleanse yerseff would ya?!?!?!

Mo

Well said my friend (and oh BTW, kindly disregard the fact that I have a second Charvel CS on the way that is virtually identical to my first. :D )
