So after the sobering thread of how much you have into your gear and adding up what is in my gear room, I started to wonder how much do you guys actually make annually gigging, recording etc.

I have a ton of nice gear, PRS, Boogie, Gibson, Fender, Musicman etc, however I gig exclusively now with my Takamine acoustic. Ironic.

I will start - I make $5-6k annually playing, playing 40-50 times each year, however I really do it for fun and for a guys night out. I have my "real job" with supports my family and my expensive gear habits.

You?

Zero dollars, for me. No one wants to pay to hear me play!

Strictly a stress release.

I do wah pedal work for 70's porn film soundtracks.

$0

But the enjoyment factor and amount of stress release is priceless.

Lol...at 49, I make less per gig now than I did 20 yrs ago. Sad really. Fewer and fewer clubs have live music these days. At least around here. Its always been a fun part time hobby, but I'd say maybe 2K. 15 yrs ago I'd make an extra 10k from gigs...nice way to supplement a day job.

There's a pretty decent live music scene here in Madison. Not sure how close you are. That said, I don't make any $

I'm fortunate enough to currently be playing in a band with a drummer who's been around my local scene for awhile. He won't book us a gig unless each man makes $100 minimum. I've made about $1000 so far since I've been playing out since August of this year.

I do about 45 shows a year, make about 16k. Also do lots of original music which I make zero on ha ha

$355 a show isn't bad. A little extra spending or savings cash

Eau Claire. There's just one club in town that has bands on weekends, maybe a few others but they aren't consistent with booking....every few months they book. We charge enough to pay for our sound/lights and still make 100 per night per guy. Just fun/extra cash. Back in 91-92 I gigged full time for 15 months or so, you could sign with an agency and travel around playing 5-7 nights a week, I think we booked for 3-4K a week? Band houses, hotel/motels, good times...but a hard life. Good memories though!

We have a few seasonal clubs, weddings and corporate gigs that are pushing that up, it took 8 years of busting our ass to get there and Boston has a great scene. Of course I spent 4,400 on a wizard so most if my gig money is gone lol.

Nothing any more but I used to make a couple of grand a year out of my previous band.

I make my living as a musician, but I only work on a classical guitar. E electric has become a very expensive hobby.
