Looking at a Mesa vertical 2x12 cab. The speakers have been swapped out to Celestion Chinese v30s.

How much would you say that affects the price if at all?

Thanks

Probably a considerable reduction, 20% off the usual or more

Most of the people who are looking for mesa cabs are looking for them specifically for the OEM mesa speakers

Yeah, I was gonna say even more significant for Mesa since the Mesa V30s are proprietary.

In the 2x12 they would have originally been 16 ohm Mesa V30s which are brighter than the 8 ohm ones so they won't be very far off sounding from the Chinese ones. Value wise...? I think they sell for about the same new don't they?

Whether they sound close or not isn't going to be as important as the perceived difference in value in people's minds between the chinese and UK ones i'm guessing

If I'm buying a Mesa, I'm buying it for the Mesa/Celestion UK speakers. I tried offloading many sets of Chinese Celestions and they're a really hard sell. Doesn't matter if you think they're the same or different, the average person doesn't want Chinese crap. Ask at least $150-200 below normal used price. If it's one of those old school Mesa 2x12's that's supposed to have EV's or Black Shadows? Ask for even more off.
