If you sold your entire rig - guitars, amps, pedals and cabs - how much money would you have?

I actually struggled with the amounts. With some of the gear on here I wasnt sure if I should have spaced the lower amounts closer together or just open up the amounts so I topped out at $100,000.

close to $10,000...... thats crazy, guess I know what could happen if we decided to buy a house :scared:

Scary because I had a huge sell off and put over 10 grand in savings. :scared: My rig is still at 20 grand and down to 4 guitars

Let's not talk about this.

I'm just around 21k and that doesn't take into account the CCV or Axe II I just sold, or the amp I'm planning on selling next week. Just the stuff that'll be left over. And I am assuming we are taking into consideration the amounts we'd be able to get selling used (going rate in the classifieds)?

Correct. What you would get if you did a fire sell of all your gear on rig talk, craigslist, eBay,etc

I'm above and beyond... Hence the "Professional" in the term "Professional Hobbyist". It validates the sheer insanity of it somehow.

Whatever, some people it's cars, some it's watches, some it's bad habits. I have gear. Fair trade.

Mo

I'm doing the Axe FX full-range thing at the moment, and spent around 3500 minus guitars and pedals. I could probably get that much in return, or maybe only a couple hundred in loss. That's only the rig I'm using for bands at the moment though, not the entire collection. I'll probably be expanding with a better poweramp and guitar cabinet soon, so tack on another grand to the cost/price.

I'm probably close to 30K and I have three custom guitars (1 Anderson, 2 BRJ's) headed my way in the next few months with nothing leaving. I don't smoke crack though so there's your silver lining.

I thought about spreading the money further apart so I had a $100,000. Looks like I should have

Very true. And at least we can get most of it back. Couldn't say the same for stuff like cars or "bad habits." So that's another silver lining!

Even to do 40k-70k, 70k-100k, 100k+ towards the end would have been interesting, I kinda want to know. Allows me to justify my collection just a little bit. But then again, I'm also not a professional hobbyist, just a simple hobbyist. So that takes my justification down a notch.

A bare minimum of 5k. I pretty much just multiplied the retail price by 66% percent.

I'm at $15K - $20K, counting the new Suhr I've got on the way, which seems like more money tied up than I should have in gear. I figured if I sold everything that I have, I calculated that I'd bring in between $16K - $17K....then again, I might be slightly on the high side.

Regardless, I've said it before and I'll say it again - the best players out there, or, at least most of my 'best players' out there - did more on nothing than too little on everything. You give someone who's got the talent 1 amp and 1 guitar, and I swear, they'll make that shit sing like none other. I'll be the first to say that my 'collection' is most of the time, inspiring. But I'd give most (all?) of it up to have pure, raw, and boundless talent with just one guitar and one amp

So it goes.

When you say rig...... To me , that means what you actually gig with. Not your entire collection of equipment.

The rest is just snobbery
