Hey rig experts

I am new to rig talk but i bet there some real rig masters here
My rig is. .: mesa boggie mark v - pod hd 500x - torpedo live cab- radial plexytube .
How do i set it up for the perfect progressive/djent tone . While still have a warm and powerfull lead
Any suggestions. ? Tips tricks...

Is progressive djent really a thing? Dream thuggah would be the jam... take it one step further progressive djent n harmony and make it Dream Thuggish. Cleveland rocks.

I'm not the guy to help you with that rig, but since a couple of people were questioning the prog/djent thing...you mean like Periphery type tone?

I. Am going for somthing between . Intervals and animals as leaders.
I think modern day babylon is close to what i am looking for

Man. I can't keep up with the bigillion sub genres. WTF is djent?

:D

"Djent" tone is never warm. It's harsh, clangy, springy, and "sproingy".

Stop practicing and turn up the gain! Chug away on the top string in a random and indeterminate manner. Rinse and repeat.

Thread made my day.

But on a serious note...

It would help us a lot to listen to some youtube clips with THAT kind of tone you are looking for?

I'm sure we will help you out if you give us some song/band examples

Take into consideration that most old timer Rig-Talk members like the "80s tone" a bit more.

This is kind of a can of worms, asking how to render a progressive tone from a person's gear..., no?

To the OP - get the music you like, listen to it, see if you can't find the peeled away guitar tracks, and just try and cop the tone. It'll be misery supreme, basically because getting someone's or a band's sound down is near impossible without taking into account the entire signal chain and production process.

You've got a lofty amp there. I'd say pull the FX for now, plug direct, and get your rhythm sound and your solo sound down to where you like it and want it. From there, sprinkle with FX for taste to get you where you think you want.

It's all I can say - asking a board to give you pointers on a totally subjective thing is near impossible to lead to success. It's just too wide open a situation. But you, your guitar, and your amp together in a room should be able to get you what you want. And as for AAL and Tosin, he's layered so many AFX2 effects into his patches and tones, it'll drive a sane man nuts trying to cop that tone. A lot of the heavier chuggers have gone the route of the AFX2 due to the fact you can layer the shit out of it, and still keep it clear and decipherable. But that opens up another can of worms like none other.

Good luck! There are support groups out there willing to help
Peace Bro!!

Just make sure everything is uber smooth. A Mark V is the step in the right direction. Dimarzio pickups, that works too. You would make Petrucci happy.

Sorry, but I think this is totally fucking crushing and badass...not shitty in the least.

That's because

A: Meshuggah rules and

B: you have good taste in music

I'd like to hear you grab an 8 and see what you do. I snagged an M8M copy awhile back and I've had a blast the last couple weeks slamming out Shug tunes. Drop E is heavy as balls and a lot of fun to mess with.

Wow that singer has quite the vocal range!...how many notes did he hit in that song? As many as the guitarist at you think??... like 2??

Omg, someone put up something that wasn't Pantera or VH on RT?

The fucking HORROR...
